Navyfield is a great ww2 naval warship that has made a few deviations from reality for
gameplay such as Ships that were never completed or made past drawing board or even
existed (bb 6s) but I think there is one deviation that was completely unnecessary and
that is the Mustang is the 4th tier fighter for US carriers. Here are a few facts
straight, first of all the Mustang was a land based fighter it never was meant to and it
never saw service on carriers. Secondly all attempts at creating a carrier version of the
mustang were unsatisfactory in comparison to already existing carrier fighters. Face it
the Mustang is not the all singing all dancing star we like to see it.

Personally I think the Mustang should be replaced by the Grumman F8F Bearcat, which had
the potential as the best piston driven carrier fighter of all time, unfortunately it had
the bad luck of arriving too late for combat service in WW2. The Bearcat especially the
post-war F8F-2 version had performance comparable if not better than that of the P51
mustang and some of the early jets. Although the initial version had a relatively light
armament of 4 .50 cal machine guns, these were upgraded to 20mm cannons.

The Mustang is a glory hog. Its time to give the Bearcat some recognition and let it have
its day in the sunlight
