  • Should I ride Guam or skip Guam??

Hi guys
I'm new in Navyfield and I had MN cv1 crew but sold them to start us bb line
I'm in Brooklyn line right now and about to ride Alaska and guam
But should I ride Guam and Alaska or skip it until new Mexico or colorado??
I saw many people having trouble with the Alaska cuz of low speed and short range, and I heard people saying that
You shouldn't ride alaska or Guam in GB because they count them as BB and hey cant do anything(I tend to not play
blitz because I don't get many exprience even I do 150k attack and i need more exp per game because I don't have
premium sub(subscription).
Therefore should I just skip them until BB2(don't have money to buy PBB) or just ride them in GBs and just be noon
BB with no range nor speed???

Pretty much.

The way expert gain works during a battle is that every crit or plane shot down gains 1
expert on a sailor. Each sailor can gain 1 or more experts per battle, but anything more
than 1 is not guaranteed. (Not sure how that's determined.) So say you shoot down a
plane and your BO gains an expert. If you shoot down another plane, another random crew
member is selected. if it's the BO again, he may or may not get an expert out of the deal.

So you could end up with an expert per plane shot down, or you could end up with just a
few, depending on how the randomness of the expert creation works out. Usually somewhere
comfortably in the middle.

When working the AA guns on my US BB's I often net 7-10 experts a battle, mostly off of
sniping scout planes or clearing fighters off of me when I'm not in range of other BB.

I believe Storm's point was that you usually get at least one expert from AAing per
game...that is as long as you shoot some planes down.

"Besides, every aircraft you shoot down with AA guns creates an expert. Your crew gets
better fast when you use AA guns all the time. "

Really? I beg to differ.

I get what you're trying to say storm, but not every aircraft shot down gives an expert.
Sure, sometimes you can get a lot in a game, but you can also get very very few.

Just make sure to spend some displacement on AA guns. 3"/70 mk23N or 5"/38 mk38L. The
Alaska/Guam's AA armament is top notch and gives you a way to be valuable to your team for
all those times that being in range of the enemy would be suicide.

Besides, every aircraft you shoot down with AA guns creates an expert. Your crew gets
better fast when you use AA guns all the time.

You can learn alot in the Guam as a BB driver . as newbie i curse that BC , but though
time i gain insight on how to properly use a BB. because of the Alaska/Guam.

Don't get discourage ..... just learn how to attack at the right moment then swiftly run
away and importantly if your blind don't rush (Unless its the last ditch effort to help a
damaged bb)

I'm on the Guam right now...headed for Colorado

Even though I personally don't like it because the "jump into range, fire, and retreat"
technique takes sometimes too much patience, and timing is everything; I still use it. I
feel that it is extremely valuable in teaching me some bb tactics. If I recall I read
somewhere that the tactics of the Guam are close to that of the much more capable South
Dakota down the road. The speed is excellent, and the range...is the best your going to
get at that level of B.O. without a prem ship.

What I did:
I jumped from the Brooklyn to the Alaska (since I never could gather the money for the
Cleveland and ??? in between and was enjoying my Brooklyn) Rather than use the Alaska, I
got the Pensacola from the coin event. Since then I've been AAing with the Pensa, upgraded
the Alaska to the Guam, and use it after I get my coin a few games each day. Sure some of
the games go terrible and others go slightly less terrible...but I consider them learning
experiences.

Wish I was more help, not much more experienced than you are. Glad to see someone else
thinks blitzs are as pointless as I found them!

Good luck

i played the Alaska in GBs with the Dual 14 Ls and got 51 knots out of it obliterated
BB6s with speed. The Guam I played similarly with the Trip 12 Ls and 45 knots. The
Guam is a great boat, but very fragile. Keep in mind, engys were at level for the boat
and the Gunners were 10+ levels above it.

Yeah, the Alaska/Guam will have good speed, no need to worry about that. I went
Alaska->Guam->Colorado. Stick with the Guam, it'll teach you how to be a better BB driver.

Alaska with slwo speed? WHAT??? Alaska one of the fastest BBs, mostly because its
a BC. the New Mex isn't a BB2, the New Mex 1945 is a BB2.
