  • RAISE THE VET CONVERSION RATE!!!

Or make the max amount of vets you can have be 100 and make a warning when
trying to convert vets after 100 saying that the max has been reached. I don't know
exactly what the rate is now, but I know it is downright impossible to convert vets
after 100, but that doesn't stop NF from letting you burn your experts in vain
attempts so you have to buy more. I know it goes down as you level, and as your
number of vets increases, but come on. And to all of you who say "ERRRRRR! It's
just DIFFICULT, not IMPOSSIBLE!" Please. Just to test the "difficulty" level, I
decided to see just how many experts it would take me to get 110 vets on my lv 65
brit BO, who already has 100. I burned through 400 (four HUNDRED, four zero zero)
experts. That's forty tries. And forty failures. Now, if I hadn't gotten all of these
experts for free from the random item drops, I'd be pretty pissed that SDE took $8 of
my money and I basically have nothing to show for it. As it is, I'm a little peeved
that it was 400 experts that other crew could have used, but whatev. They were
free, and there is a point to be made here. Sometimes that takes a little sacrifice.
Also, to those of you who are going to tell me that vets cant equal more than 30%
of total sailor capacity, do some math for me. Take 488 (sailor capacity of lv 65 brit
BO) times .3 (30 percent). I'm no math whiz, but if my calculator finger works right, it
equals 146.5 or 147 to round and make things nice and even. How much money do
I have to spend on experts to get those extra 47 vets? I can't say for sure, other
than it's definately more than 8 bucks, which MIGHT be worth it i were guaranteed
to get those vets, or at least not guaranteed to NOT get them.

Let's take the current base vet conversion rate at lv 65, which I'm sure is not
published anywhere for obvious reasons. I can say with a good degree of certainty
that it is less than 2.5%. Let's say base is .75%, as I did this with a premium
subscription during the 100% vet conversion boost event. Those of us who
purchase premium subscriptions are entitled to a 50% increase in the vet conversion
rate, but it's not a true 50%, it's 50% of the original rate, which would be a
whopping gain of .375 percent, which makes the rate that we PAY MONEY FOR
1.125%. Let's also take into account the 100% vet increase boost event, and our
awesome conversion rate is an astounding 2.25 percent.

I'm not saying anything drastic, but 10-20% i think is good. What it is now is a
complete ripoff.

Simple i bought the first 100 for each gunner and then used a little Christmas cash to buy
some expert packs, this combined with the packs i got from the event, my aaing in gbII,
premium account, and conversion boost made it easy and not to expensive. (the money i
spent were thous visa gift cards that have a monthly toll so i figured i should spend
them before they lose money.)

"People chose to AA for experts for days/weeks, or pay for them to have better
sailors."

"For those who do not want to spend real money on attempts that may fail, you can
spend countless hours in missions gaining experts to burn"

There is a line where a game stops being a game and becomes something
completely different: a boring, mind-numbing grind. I think these two quotes
illustrate this point perfectly. If I wanted a boring, mind-mind numbing grind, I'd still
be playing WoW. As it is, I like to get some enjoyment out of the money that I
spend on the games I play. If grinding is fun for you, congratulations, you have
more patience than I, but why make that tedious, dreadful grind the only option? So
what if every Tom, Dick, and Harry can have BA sailors? At that point the game
becomes more about skill than about who can grind the hardest and burn the fruits
of that grind the fastest. I'm still for raising the rate, because I like to see
something come out of the money that I spend.

@ TS

You might be doing it wrongly, I have a level 69 US Seaman, and it has reached 40% already. ^^

I just burned the usual way, every couple of wins or so and look what it gave me. (Spent
about 30 - 36usd worth of experts for both)

I started burning experts from 50vets in the past two weeks. The max vet count is 40% of
your total sailor.

I have seen sailors with 300+ vets, and there are many a player out there with 200+.

People chose to AA for experts for days/weeks, or pay for them to have better sailors.
Conversion rate sucks but it prevents every john doe from having top of the line sailors
without working for them. I would be reluctant to complain about burning through 400 with
0 success as I've done 2000+ during an event with 0 conversions.

You really want to make things better or want another alternative... Bring back experts
from missions. For those who do not want to spend real money on attempts that may fail,
you can spend countless hours in missions gaining experts to burn.

Why make earning vets progressively harder AND have a cap though? It seems a
little redundant to me. Why not have it at a set rate until you hit the cap?
Otherwise, people like me throw away hard earned free stuff trying to hit the cap,
only to find out that my chance of actually capping out is pretty much nil anyway.
BTW I got the 30% figure from a post somewhere, the info might be a little dated,
but I don't think that makes me suck at math. Let's at least try to keep the insults
relevant, shall we?

lolz u fail math, 1 its 40% of your total sailors is max for vets.
2 it does get harder as your vets increase
3 it doesn't matter when you class them, just how many vets/level. 120 sailors are harder
to earn vets on than a lvl 1 (ps a lvl 1 sailor can have 22 vets :P)

eSHkidd: I did it with a prem subscription and during the 100% boost event. I
didn't mean a 20% base rate, but with a premium subscription during a 100% boost
event, there's no reason why it shouldn't be around at least 15. I've personally
never gotten above 100 vets with a crew member. Ever. And it's not for lack of
trying, but there's a fine line between trying hard and just throwing money away. I
talked to a fleetmate that went from 100-120 vets with 100 experts each on his
gunners, only 6 lvls below mine. Maybe it's just my account that's busted, I dont
know. It sure is frustrating though.

junkers101: How? Maybe gunners are different, because my fleetmate got a pretty
good conversion rate with his gunners too, and his were lv 59. Maybe it changes
once they hit 60? or once they're classed as huge gunners? I just know the rate
sucks for my BO.
