  • CV Setup?

Hello Navyfielders,

I've been thinking... well i got my Ryujo for a while, going for the hirjy at the moment.
But, it's verry annoying as my dive bombers ready to bomb an enemy ship, get shot
down by fighters. (I'd solved this now and i know a little how to evade this)
Now, currently, i got this setup:

1 BO
2x AA (dp, lvl 68)

*Pilots*

3x Fighter (2x lvl 89, 1x lvl 76)
1x Tb (11 base)
2x db

Now, I was thinking, if i should get alot of fighters, (i know dragging etc) and there a
pretty nice level, i could get into fights with other pilots.
Now still i want to divebomb, and i keep the TB for subs and other little annoying
ships.
So what should i do:

- Getting fp's only
- Getting fp's+db's
- Getting db's only
- getting fps+db's(+1tb)
- Getting fp's and tb's

I was thinking of 4 fp's and 2 db's but what you guys think, whats the best, since im
half the way to my hiryu?

Depends on your playstyle really. But make sure you got about at least 8-9 class of
pilots if your gonna play cv till level 120.
Like the people that commented said, IJN used to be the best Dive bombers in game
until MN CV came. IJN TB would place last.
Heres the play style that i can suggest, assuming you got to CV5-6

IJN Dive/Torpedo Bomber Whore- 7-8 Bombers, 1-2 Fighters
( you need protection, especially killing scouts which give sight to your launched
bombers)

IJN Cooperative Player - 6-7 Fighters, rest are DB. This is the normal setup.Balanced.
First priority is scouting and Fighter Cover. Your only gonna be bombing if your team
is winning. Don't bother with TB in this setup. Tb require more management and it
takes skills to perfectly hit a ship. Not to mention the damage sucks for IJN.Plus most
of the BB invest in bulge fearing the SS nukes.

I would not say IJN TB s(_)cks! I personally traded my IJN DB for TB and im having
alot of fun with it. My TBs can sink BB1-5 with just 1 wave depending on the
situation. But I admit, I had alot of failed TB attacks than the successful ones. But in
the end it just require alot of practice and patiences.

dont you have a mn cv wilg? db not being usefull is kinda countering your own
playingstyle, IJN has the 2nd best DB in the game.

db can be usefull, more than tb (except for the under water point there)

try 6 fp 2 db, works best usually, and when the db get to higher lvl's you can also hit
small stuff like subs.

If your going to be playing CV seriously you want 5-6 FPs and 2 bombers (but only if you
know how to bomb properly, ie if your going to auto TB, don't bother.)

DBs dont really help your team a whole lot, TBs are far more versatile, you can kill
underwater subs, go sink AW BBs pretty easily.

So, actually i should go for 2 db's and put everything else full of fp's?

You need to look towards the future when you will have the opportunity to run 8 pilots.
The configuration that you run is going to be dependent on the battle you fight. If we
see the return of HA and NFFL battles you may be called upon to be the fighter CV, the
bomber CV or a mixed CV.
I have 5 fighter pilots, 2 DB and 2 TB. The configuration that I use in GBs is
classified information, but I have borrowed pilots to fill out my role in HAs and Fleet
battles.
Pick up another FG or two and another TBer. But for the most part, concentrate on
balancing the lvl of your FGs.
