gaining vets in battle

Hi, quick question.
Isit possible to get veterans in battle? For example, when i AA or get a critical hit? I
have read several forums saying such stuff.

only expert give in battle if hit very bad on the planes by AA or shells from the BBs
cant recommend this sorry :(

you can only get experts in battle, you can't get vets in battle.
