As title says, when I start up navyfield and go through the installer and press play
the thing starts up to a black screen then closes down and says NAVYFIELD.exe has
stopped working. I've tried reinstalling it several times, and changing resolutions but
none of them work =/. I've looked at other posts and they seem to have the same
problem however none of the solutions on there worked for me. I have windows 7
and a good enough graphics card. It use to work for me before until one day it
magically occured. Can anyone help?

I had this problem and solved it 2 days ago, just uninstall, DOWNLOAD the client AGAIN,
install, boot and start the game. After 20 tries starting the game and 2 reinstalls this
worked for me, you have to download the new client, i think the updater crashes the game
coz it doesn recognize the server merge, give it a try guys...

Same thing here, but I am using Windows XP. I have 3GB ram and 1GB video card.
Also for me when the game crashes and I try to launch it a second time it starts
downloading like 80 files again. I have tried uninstalling and installing clean. Shut off
my antivirus completely. Set the DEPs as stated in other posts. Ran as admin (which
corrupted the files) forcing another reinstall. Deleted all files including the actual
sdnet folders before reinstalling. Game still stops at black screen. Got through one of
the times after reinstalling and it said that the only 2 servers were nelson and
Yamato (but when clicked on showed the nebraska and kaiser in top right corner but
game just locked when put in the ID name and password. Had no problem with
game for years until this server merge.

You can not run the Navy Field application with compatibility turned on. You can for the
launcher and updater though. With Windows 7 or Vista to get the game to run somewhat
stable you need to turn off visual themes and desktop composition and run HSupdate and
navyfield.exe as an administrator. There is a good forum p[age already for getting the
game running properly. Also some third party applications hackshield does not like and
will close the game. You could try to turn off all unnecessary services. I forgot to say
when you uninstalled the game did you delete the SDEnternet folder some files remain in
the updater even after an uninstall. A fleetmate of mine had a problem where the game
would not run and update right because of this until after uninstalling and deleting the
folder.

Did you try to send some support tickets? Well, they gave some good advice to me but i
tried them all and when i put in my password and id name i clicked play game then it
froze a bit then it said "connection to server has been lost." So im sure there is a
solution for fixing sort of a problem, i looked them up and there are many solutions that
i dont know which one is correct. So do please look up the Q&A that may solve your
problem.

Yep same problem here. Running Windows 7, set compatibility mode to Windows 98/ME and
running as admin. Game STILL wont load. So thanks SDE for breaking NF completely!

Same here. NF was working perfectly until today. After pressing Play on the
Launcher, the first Image of the loading screen appears. 2 seconds after the game
closes itself and Windows says it crashes.
I have an I5 Processor, Windows 7 64 Bit, 4 GB of Ram, nVidia GeForce 330 GT,
access to Internet (Firewall unblocked for Navy Field), etc.

The game has always worked until I tried it today.

***Edit: After reinstalling twice, manual patching and what not, I found out that if
you set compatibility to Windows 98/Me or lower, the loading screen does not crash,
but never achieves to load (or not in the 10 min I waited). If set to Windows 2000 or
higher, the loading screen crashes after 3 seconds.
