  • Organise a spelling bonanza ...

Yes, you know what I mean. The english in the game is, well, it isn't very good. So, how about a spelling bonanza. If TNF posts all externalised strings in the game on the board, we could make an event out of it. Everyone can post their proposed 'better' string and the poster whose string get's incorporated into the game will get, well, exp, points, credits, whatever. Simple, nice, easy and worthwhile for the beta testing community as well! When suggestions are tied, a random choice can be made, in order to spread the wealth around.

I have some faculty in abusing this language. I'll join.

(And BTW, it's 'massive multiplayer naval strategy game', the -ly isn't needed!)
(Edit: bonansa -> bonanza, thanks!)

Could I also point out the apostrophe in "...whose string get's incorporated..." It looks like we should be having a grammar test too!

"Massive" is an adjective; "massively" is an adverb. In this usage, "massively" is modifying the word "multiplayer" which is an adjective. Proper english only uses adverbs to modify adjectives.

Well, I don't know if it so far fetched. I have participated on such a thing before, for games were I was a beta tester and on websites as well. Works like a charm. The beta testers can give some positive feedback back to the game and can get some small reward for it in return. Mind you, the return doesn't have to be big at all. Last time the only thing I got was a mention as a beta tester and that was good enough for me.

If you turn it into an 'event' and ask one of the mod to supervise, the only work for TNF would be to externalise all the strings from the game, which will need doing anyway. Same for the website. Might pull the community together as well!
