I've always recieved lockups during loading but those I never cared about I just
needed to go to the desktop and kill the game. But its just after those un-
documented patches (although as you say they might be occuring just after I recieve
a lockup during loading) that are occuring just prior to the start of the games
constant crashes.

Others get un-documented patches right? I am sure I've seen posts about it before.

There should not be any "undocumented patches". This
behavior in itself should not occur. If your client is
attempting to download files and gets stuck trying to do
so then I'm afraid that there may be some conflict
occurring with your anti-virus, firewall, or any other
background applications that may be running while NF is
running.

It may be helpful to try port forwarding TCP ports 8001
and 16671 in your router settings (please check with your
router manufacturer documentation for assistance). You
may also flush your DNS cache:

3. Clear the cached DNS entries:
a. In Windows Vista or Windows 7: Click Start, type
cmd on the Search box and press Enter
b. At the command prompt, type the following
command, ipconfig /flushdns and then press Enter
c. Type exit and then press Enter to close the
Command Prompt window

If the issue continues I'm afraid that the best solution
to try for this may be a thorough reinstallation of the
latest NF client. However, before doing so, please try
just using the manual patch:

tipsypo, sounds like you are having the data files updated if it happens
after a crash. that I would ignore, but the game issue is one that should
be fixable.

Im having the same problem

mid battle just screen goes black and i crash

i got told to open 2 specific ports by the tech support staff and im trying that right now
it will be intersting to see if this solves my issues. If not i will be very dissapointed
in the quality of care that is provided...

Since the hack shield went live I have had may more problems. The game not loading,
dropping out after or some times before the game start and general unreliability. I play
on several different PC's and it is particularly an issue on the window 7 PC.

Does this match with others experience?

I again recieved the issue but again another reinstall worked although I'm betting
its going to occur again some time. So SDE am I going to need to reinstall this
bloody game every 48 hours just to be able to play it?

Issue 1st occurred just after an large-ish un-documented patch. As I said earlier I
downloaded the installer again and reinstalled the game as SDE suggested and that
seemed to work. Since then in the 48 hours that I've had the game playable many
other minute un-documented patches were downloaded.

Now an hour ago just post another large-ish un-documented patch the game cocked
up again crashing every battle just as before. Again I reinstalled the game using the
same installer as before but on the 1st startup no un-documented patches were
downloaded and the game worked?

Now this leads me to ask SDE (and I am going to send a support ticket stating the
same) what exactly is in these un-documented patches and when are they
downloaded? As its not a tradional patch in the sense that its downloaded should
your version be an older than the current as otherwise I would have had to
download them all on the startup after the most recent reinstall. Also it seems to be
whatever is in these un-documented patches thats causing me to crash?

I've done a complete reinstall, no luck. I can't think of anything else to that I have not
already tried.

I was or maybe am getting this crash every battle. I've got XP and tried everything
listed in Soldier's post. But nothing worked. I sent a support ticket and most was
same crap but they also said reinstallation. I say maybe getting this crash because
I've just downloaded then unistalled and installed the game again and I've
managed to get through about ten battles with my gamebooster on also. So I will
probrably see whether through the weekend it crashes again else I will decide my
NavyField is sorted.

usually adding navyfield to the DEP exception list will solve this problem. I know another
person who had the same problem and that fixed it for him
