  • HS running on partition or virtual xp (win7)

I have no interest in installing NF on my main windows, but would be happy to
partition a small space from the HD and put a copy of xp on there to run NF.

I know some have mentioned about hs installing on system files still even if you
install it on a spare HD. but how does it work for a partition that contains another
windows op?

Another alternative that I haven't tried is windows 7 pro virtual XP mode how would
HS and NF work with that?

@Icetom:
Since custom sprites are simply a replacement file for a file that was already there, they
work fine in a VM.

thanks vanity, this should do it. Found a thread about it on Linux and I wanted to make sure the
guide is for Windows.

The only question I have now is how to install custom sprites on it. Is that possible on the virtual
machine? Should be, right?!

Heh, I feel like this link is a bit whored out since I am relaying this from someone who
relayed it to me, etc.

This link might be useful for people wanting to have step-by-step instructions on
running NF on VirtualBox.

I have searched tips and tactics and technical forum (15 pages) and have not found the thread
where
it was discussed by many people. Sure there are some threads with 5 answers, but im not talking
about that ones.

Some said it was stickied in technical forums but there is nothing - was it hidden? Can someone link it
please?

I thought SD had stated that to run NF correctly (least amount of issues) with HS it
needed to be loaded and run under the administrator? I am no tech but I would have thought
this was not possible with a partition.

I run nf on virtualbox, using a XP guest with 128mb VRAM and 1024 RAM. 10 GB dynamically expanding
VDI and no guest additions.

I have it running in a VM... I downloaded the free VirtualBox VM software and it works ok
using that, isolated from the host PC.
