  • Crashing, How can I fix it, if at all.

Ok, Can't think of anything else on my end I can do.

I'm running Windows XP on an AMD Athlon 64 single core, 2.81 GHz, 2 GB's of RAM with a
GeForce 7800 for Graphics

Fair warning, in a few days, I will be building my new computer, so spec's will change,
but I can't guarantee that my problem will go away

So, here is what is happening. Before Hackshield, NF crashed now and then, here and there,
but it was not a big deal. I could play, and enjoy NF.

When Hackshield was added, I started Crashing, A lot. After these last few weeks testing
this, here is what happens. I enter the game, it loads. No problems in Harbor, battle
screen, or in the waiting room. This only happens when the battle startes. In all but once
instance of GB2, I crash within about 1 or 2 minutes of the game starting. There was one
case where it did not crash until near the end of the game, and it was when I launched a
smoke bomb.

I was able, to complete a single Blitz game, it lasted about 4 or so minutes, I got XP, I
was happy. I went back today to start leveling my Soviet Crew in Blitz, hopping that my
one good expierence in Blitz would help out. The Games I entered lasted about 5 minutes,
after which, before the room ended, it crashed.

The only message I get is this "Navyfield has experinced a problem and needs to close,
anything you were working on may be lost"

Well no crap its lost!! I lost a my final weeks worth of Prem to this bug. I can't buy
Prem again because of some real life issue, and because the only spare cash I had I was
putting towards getting an HQ expansion so I could have a Soviet Crew. Well its pretty
pointless for an HQ expansion if I can't level the crew.

Has anyone managed to squash this bug, or have any suggestions on what I can try?

Will,
When you get the error message that it experienced a problem and shut down,
is there a details button for the error.

If not check the event viewer for the application crash and get that info into the
GM via the email instructions.

Even though is a new build this sounds like something is conflicting with NF that
is causing it to crash

I had this exact problem, which i manage to fix, heres what i did

1. I use a program called "Perfect Uninstaller"
Under perfect installer it does 3 things in one
> uses the orginal uninstaller program
> then scans the registry for left over entries
> then it scans the drive for left over files
2. go to C:\Program Files\SD EnterNET
3. ENFUNS updater will be still there, so delete it and SD EnterNET folder
4. restart your computer
5. Redownload a fresh client & Install
6. restart computer again and your problem should be fixed

i havent had any crashs since. i can play 20-30 games straight few minor lags but no
crashs =)

the problem that i found that was causing the crash was the updater itself, as it
seem to be bugged as it was downloading unknown files.

Neat
Have u tried running the hackshield update file and hackshield run file as admin, i had
the same problems as you and this fixed all.

Also u might want to make the sde folder in your programme files an exception to your
firewall, antivirus etc, if these programmes are monitoring NF files etc it might be
causing a lag spike in your connection which will make you freeze / crash.

Try the above, my advise would be to uninstall nf, after uninstall go to programme files
in C drive and delete the sde folder which is left behind, defrag your hard drive, then
reboot, then reinstall nf, add all the files to be exceptions in firewalls and anitvirus then,
run both hackshield and nf as admin then try again.

I had major problems before and couldnt log on never mind play a game, the above
sorted me out and now play with no crashes at all.

will when you install windows 7 you have to pick the 64 bit out of the list. 32 bit is
the default.

Its not losing connection. It literally just stops, a little window pops up and says
something like "Navyfield.exe has stopped working, Windows is looking for a solution to
the problem" or something like that. I happens at different times, usually about 5 minutes
after Blitz Starts, and usually 2 minutes after GB2 starts, although I made it 5 minutes
into a GB2 a few times before it crashed

Its only since Hackshield was added that this started. A complete system rebuild had no
effect.

And according to my system info, its Windows 7 32 bit, even though It was sold to me as 64
bit (microsoft error). But the same thing was happening to me under windows XP as well

The only time I crashed was when I tried turning DEP on the first time, would not even let
NF start.

Ignore the DEP thing, that makes no sense, you are actually turning it on for everything
even though it was off for NF and then excluding NF from DEP.

Anyways is the problem it says you lost connection to the server instead of the all
around everything stops and then the game crashes itself? If not the latter, what ISP
and router do you have because I have that stupid problem a lot and my ISP is
Timewarner and my router is a WGR614v8.

Oh yeah and do some times crash when launching the game, ie do you just get a black
screen and some times it goes to loading and other times just sits there and then
crashes? Wondering if its a Windows 7 x64 problem.

Ok, Changing the DEP settings did nothing. Game is running as an Admin.

Ok then, new computer, same problem. It seems that games last longer in Blitz, I am able
to stay around for about 5 minutes, but in GB2, it crashes after less then 2 minutes.

Some Blitzs end in under 5 minutes, so I managed to complete 1 game today out of 3
attempts so far.

Ok New System Specs

AMD Phenom II X2 Black Edition, 3.3 GHz, however its currently running as an X4 (yay Core
unlocker!). 4 GB of RAM and a Geforce 7800 GTX. I'm now
running Windows 7 32 Bit

According to system Information, its actually windows 7 32 bit.....which annoys me because
Microsoft sold it to me as a 64 Bit operating system through my school...
