Hey, my old computer broke and I decided that this time I would make my own computer
because I couldn't find any good computers for sale.

So I have completely overhauled my parts list (Literally, I used none of the old parts):
Case: $65 after rebate (AR): RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WBP Black 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid
Tower Foldout MB Computer Case With 500W Power Supply

Power Supply (PSU) $0: Included with case

Motherboard $70: MSI 870-G45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard

CPU: $90: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition Callisto 3.2GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core
Desktop Processor - C3 Revision HDZ555WFGMBOX
*Note: I plan to unlock this CPU to a quad-core. (Wish me luck :D)

RAM: $32 (AR): OCZ Signature 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
Desktop Memory Model OCZ3SR1333LV4GK

Video Card ($55 AR): HIS H467QR1GH Radeon HD 4670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Hard Drive: $55: HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.C HDS721010CLA332 (0F10383) 1TB 7200 RPM SATA
3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

CD/DVD Drive $18: LITE-ON Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model iHDS118-04 - OEM

Sub-Total: $420
Tax/Shipping: ~$20
Rebate Total: $35

Final Total: $405.

I would like a final compatibility check between all the parts I am buying.
Thanks.

***Changed case to Antec 300 Illusion
$5 less and gives 2 extra frontal fans.

After about a week if its not locking up and freezing, it means you have 4 stable cores,
and just saved $50 on a quad core. It worked for me

Not necessarily. If you can execute Prime95 or IBBT for a 24/48Hr duration it should be
considered and classed as stable.

I would highly suggest getting the AMD Phenom II 560 X2. Runs a little faster for $5 more.
3.3 GHz rather then 3.2

Same socket. Plus like most other X2's, you can use your motherboards core unlocker
feature (hopefully yours has one) and turn it into an X4 with out too much extra effort.
Though if you do, you will want to check your CPU temp every 10 minutes for about an hour
after your first use, just to check that its running cool.

Will do, Monarch.

I plan to order the parts on Saturday :D.

Let us (me) know how the processor works out.

Fingers crossed for the 'Unleashing'.

Omg, I would love to buy that Antec 900, but sadly, it's out of my price range :(.
So I'm pretty happy with this final parts list.
I would prefer it to be slightly cheaper, though. Angus, do you know any of the cheaper
PSUs that are on-par with the corsair I chose?

My final cost after applying all rebates, shipping, tax, and promotions is about $415.
Not too shabby.

I got an antec 900, and it is a dust vacuum.

As far as PSUs go, the one you chose is good, though there's probably cheaper ones
around that are close to as good as that.
-----

That being said their air cooling capability is immense. It was improved upon noticeably
in the 902 and the 1200. That is even with stock cooling. However for best air cooling
capability is always advisable to plan out how you would swap the fans and whether
they would be intake/exhaust and to sketch/diagram it out.

Yes PlanZ, that was the last thing I was considering.
Both of the cases seem to be very good in terms of cooling and space, and they both have
top-notch reviews. Maybe I'll just man-up and forfeit the extra $10.

Snailgod before finalizing this list I would recommend considering the Antec 300 (Three
Hundred) as a mid-tower case for your upcoming build.
