the fireworks do the same thing smoke does...when fired above a ship targeted
hinders the bombers to lock on the target preventing the bombing

starshells.. as said..are for night battles to illuminate an area for about 20-30 secs

Yes, Star shells are flares that you can put on your scout plane to create temporary sight
in a Night Battle mode game. The flare lasts for 2 minutes IIRC.

What you are referring to is the Firecracker shells that can be loaded on some AA guns.
These shells IIRC were originally put into the game to temporarily reduce the sight range
of any planes that are "hit" by them.

I have only noticed this working a few times, but when you do hit a plane with these
shells it does greatly reduce the sight range.

I have a good purpose for these Fireworks/Flares...


Load only one of your AA guns with this type of sh ell. When you fire at airplanes
you will mark the location in the sky and draw attention to the incoming aircraft
allowing other ships to fire as well....

This is the only productive method to use these shells...

And they look pretty!

Star shells a basically a large flair. They were used to light up the night sky. In the
game they are only useful in Night Battle.
