hi players

finally i found a more or less secure way to get navyfield working with HS.

most of the players dislike the idea that the main computer system will have a
unsave software installed. named: Hackshield
in case that i dislike the idea or imagination that i have a PC and lappy running and
this software might be used against my privacy, did i searched for a way to fix it.

the answer is simple:

a virtual PC!

yes..no joke..a virtual computer...put out letter write down "virtual windows xp
boot"..ok joking..

no...to be serious...

the idea behind that is simple. runing a OS shaped on the mainsystem. but both
system are different to each other. one system (main pc) is the HOST. the Virtual PC
is the Guest..and works as emulation.
the good thing is, u can configurate the whole VPC with all what u need. it works like
a normal pc. u can use the USB drives ..gfx..soundcards and so on. but the VPC has
NO access to the mainpc, just the internet works.
sharing data files between both sides works perfectly with USB memory sticks.
and..thats the best, u can use a stick or external drive like a HD for the Virtual PC..u
need the software to install it (free) on the drive and can use it.
the next thing is simple: install your OS on the virtual drive or load a image-file from
your existing system, what ever u like. i prefer a new installed system.

link to the software provider:

https://www.vmware.com/
download here: https://www.vmware.com/products/player/

register, download, install..install OS and run it. installing OS can take a while (2h on
my system cause of some problems). you do not need to install sound or gfx drivers.
if u prefer to run a 1:1 copy of the system u allready use, use a harddiskmanager
like "paragon hard disk manager 10". i used it to backup my system and making a
bootable shadow-copy of my win-7 laptop OS..works on my Virtual-PC

any questions?...ask!

like u can see..i am playing again and that means, i am back!!!
i will not play that much before the HS was released. i still need to relax and find my
way in real live. but i will show up now.

one of the problems in the VPC is the resolution. its very small for me. VMware
seems to have a problem to scale the resolution up to fullscreen. and dxwnd isnt
compatible to HS. i hope they will fix that soon.
overall it works smooth. no chraches, no lag. the performance is nice. i run the
emulation with 1,5GB ram. thats 33% of my normal ram.
u have to know, that VMware is using a Harddisk-file that gets written on your
normal harddisk. that drops the performance of your HD a bit. but its still pretty fast.
so take your time to install the OS. sometimes u maight feel that the system hangs
during installation. but no worries. it works, but it needs time.
my used time was around 1,5 hours. but the first reboot is fast.

the big + for that is: u can use the main-os and the virtual mashine at same time but
independence from each system! no "tab-alt" is need to brows the web. its like
playing in a window if u like. or fullscreen (windows only).

i hope that i found a lil solution for u all. i finished playing nf till i found that way.
enjoy...have fun!

the pwerformance is more then fast enough for NF. any other game could be to hard
for it.
but VMware is the only system for emulation, that can be used on nearly each OS...i
wanted to use the microsoft version. but this one was not compatible to my win-7
homepremium 64bit or windows-xp sp3 32bit...same counts for many otehr ones.
VWware runs without problems on any OS i used and was trying.
currently checked and works:

win-7 32bit & 64 bit with XP-sp3
win-vista 32 bit with winx-sp2 professional
win-xp sp3 32 bit with win-xp-sp3 (runs extremly nice)

this software is NOT for hardcore gamers or 3-d usage! its good and fast enough for
NF.
if they make HS compatible with dxwnd or other window-making programms..well
then this is fixed. at the moment u have to play on the normal 1024*768 pixels. and
NO scaling.
but in case of the situation for many players, and it is for free...is it better then
nothing.

Both VMWare Workstation/Player and Sun Virtual Box do not support Scaling. This is a
major disadvantage to playing Navyfield under a Sandbox/Virtualized enviroment.

Also Workstation>Player.

this is interesting!!! cool i'd like to play virtual gaming!!

Gaming under a virtualized Operating System environment is not what it is intended for.
I ran trials using VMWare Workstation 7.1.3 with COD4 Modern Warfare. The FPS is
simply insufficient to play the game if at all. That is because of the Software Based
Graphics support included.
