Yes, lag may be experienced specially from ASIA region.

Primarily, there were fiber breaks with the submarine Fiber Optic Cable connecting the
ISP's. e.g. Philippine's ISP had 8x10Gbps fiber breaks which transits through japan. so
all of its traffic were re-rerouted from Japan to AAG(Asia-American GateWay) Cable System.

Result = Congestion, Lag, DC's

Yes, the lag after the earthquake it's more likely to be caused by cables being damaged
during the earthquake and not by a problem in the servers.

Last year, when we had the earthquake here (Chile) I couldn't play for a week because
ISP companies were down. We had lag for like a month or two after the earthquake for
some international websites and servers until every damaged cable was repaired.

After that, everything got back to normal... no lag.

of course earthquake in Japan didn't damage the server in US
but earthquake did damage the cables around Japan...

PCCW / Netvigator users should be affected.

Earthquake = destruction

WWW = alot of sensitive infrastructure

eathqauke + www = losing alot of bandwitch

losing bandwitch = more lag

Japan = they country between hong kong and the usa

After the earthquake, bandwitch from other countrys has been used to provide better
communication for the victims of the earthquake and their helpers! Thats why data
transfers over undamaged cables also can lag...

Singapore here, not seemed to be affected by the damaged cables going through Japan when
playing NF. Probably cause we might be routed through a different cable.
