  • Renaming and re-structuring national harbours

I am thinking of both renaming and re-structuring the harbour assault layout for the
different national harbours so they can resemble their real life naval bases.

The current Harbour names are
US: New York
UK: London
KM: Hamburg
IJN: Tokyo
MN: Toulon
SN: Baltvisk

Here is the new names I suggested of course the French will stay the same
US: Pearl Harbour
UK: Scapa Flow
KM: Kiel
IJN: Kure
SN: Leningrad (as the Baltvisk only became Russian after WW2)

Kure was the location where most of Japan's large capital ships were built and served as
the homebase for the Yamato, although Yokosuka would be another great choice

For the British the choice is going to be between Portsmouth and Scapa Flow, as London was
inaccessible to modern (talking from ww2 point of view) surface warships especially for
capital ships as a result only submarines operated from London by ww2

if you were to rename the IJN harbor, it would have to be Yokosuka; the largest shipyards/
drydocks etc on honsho at that time where right at the mouth of tokyo wan, in a small
outcove called yokosuka =p. still reminents of that Imperial Japanese base. IE because the
US navy just took over and didnt destroy it.

but a good recc.

I say change to Portsmouth is better.

Even in WW2 wasn't Scapa Flow just an very usefull anchorage rather than a proper
naval base with everything required to maintain fleet? I know it had HMS Kestrel an
small naval air station but other than that wasn't the facilities there just "base
ships"? But even then I would rather go to Scapa Flow than stick with London
though seeing as it was the main base for the home fleet during the war.

What about that french city on the west border of france that served as a sub base? What
was it? La Rochelle?

Keep NY,London,Tokyo,Hamburg. All were major naval bases.

Change Baltvisk to one of those sub bases on the northern border of russia, or something
in the black sea, or maybe Vladivostok? Although if SDE patched that it would probably be
another spelling fail to laugh at ;)

Recc'd cause its a good idea and Alstein managed to post here.

Scapa Flow was the homebase for the Capital Ships of the UK Home Fleet in ww2 as Scapa
Flow was further away from Nazi-controlled Europe than Portsmouth therefore it was harder
for Luftwaffe bombers to reach than Portsmouth

Sounds like a good idea.

I don't know how nessisary it would be... But it would be nice for SDE to actually
make the harbours Real harbours...

of course SDE would have to re-work the physical look of each harbour to make it
look like the real harbour....

Maybe they could do some polls on what harbour each nation could be....

Like have 4 options or so of different harbour's that nation own's, and whatever one
gets the highest votes can be the new harbour. (name and physical look)

I think the main goal of this tread should be to pick out the possible harbours for
each nation; So SDE could make a poll. (Pictures can help too)
