For the tab function, you need to input first a second pass. If it's your first time, the game will ask you to input the 2nd pass. It is a number-based password that needs at least 4 digits. This is to act as a failsafe for when you play NF anywhere besides your PC. Once you type this pass, everything else can be accessed such as HQ and Trade.
New NF updates allow you to go shop trades so you don't need to open a room like you usually do. At the Trade function, you can either buy or sell sailors here for a set amount of price and offer lasts for about 48 hours. After 48 hours, if the sailors aren't sold, they are given back to you. In the event they do, the Trade room will take some amount of % interest, not sure how much and which currency so I'll leave it to mods to answer this. You can also be specific with your search by filtering the options such as nations, sailor class, and level to help save some time.
To purchase a sailor, simply click the wanted sailor and press purchase on the bottom right. There might be some confirmation window asking for this, just say yes if you really made up your mind. As always, makes sure you have enough credits (an points) to purchase the sailor.
As for HQ, it simply acts as your extra storage. You can put sailors and ships in the HQ via click and drag. Ships take more slots than sailors but if there are any sailors on board the ship, they will be on it when transferred as a whole.
