  • Help starting a CV crew.

Can anyone give some advice on what I'd need to start a CV crew? Cos without knowing what
to need I've no doubt I'll end up making and scrapping a whole crew just to find out what
to expect.

So, if anyone can advise on wether I'll even need gunners, or how many of what pilots I'll
need and advice on support crew aswell, that'd be much appreciated.

I'm not a complete idiot, I've played for quite a while and have 2 VBE BB crews, I know
that special forces can man basic guns but then they'll become rookies and I'd be left
gunnerless, but how am I meant to level enough pilots for use?

If it makes much difference, I'm considering either UK or US aswell.

Right now, I just want to make sure that when I hit 50-60 that I've got ready pilots and
everything necessary to start and that I pick the right nation.

Playing some GBs and paying more attention to aircraft type I've noticed vast majority are
DB not TB (I dont play any FL or HA, cant even think of what FL is), dunno if that's not a
correct observation or if its expected of GBs, but it seems to make the UK look like a bad
choice.

Well, I've got a BO, 2 rld gunners, 2 fps and 2 bombers rolled at lvl 1 to get me started,
I should get 2 more of each and rotate them while leveling?

If you are planning to play a CV in FL or HA, I'd recommend more than 4fps, you'll need em.

CV6 can still only use 8 Pilots, anymore and they will just be taking up space. If you
want to level up a mix of TBs DBs depending on the mood your in, is all well in good
however the majority (experience from reading and watching some of the better cv drivers
out there) will recommend not running a mix on your ship.

MN Dbs are extremely powerful, US fighters (after cv patch) are insane. KM still holds
about the same weight it did before CV patch.

Always make sure you level your FPs evenly as well. Its going to mean rotating pilots to
level up the necessary amount, however this is no different from BB crews.

Okay... tbh, I thought what was said was correct, that IJN had better TB, UK and KM had
better fighters and that US was balanced, I heard SN has good DB, dunno about MN.

Anyone with experience give any recommendations?

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for the advice on crewmen sofar, seamen and medics aren't used
anymore I suppose

>okay, it does make a difference, bacause (im not sure about UK) but IJN is better
with torp bombers, KM is better with DB, US isnt as good but they are balanced so
you can use both.
>KM is better with DB
NOPE
>IJN is better with TB
NOPE
>USN DB is balanced
SECOND WORST IS BALANCED?
For the above: See MN
For Fighters: See US

Keep your pilots at spec. forces till they reach fighter or bomber pilot. You don't lose any
ability for them doing so other than for +4 for aircraft (which isn't an issue). Doing this
enables you to level enough pilots whilst still being able to use guns/torps/HH's

okay, it does make a difference, bacause (im not sure about UK) but IJN is better
with torp bombers, KM is better with DB, US isnt as good but they are balanced so

for US and im guessing UK as well, lvl up 4 each of FP, TB, and DB, just incase you
want to change your playing style, you have some flexibility,
if you dont want to do that many the lvl up 3 of each, (you will need all of them by
midway)
add in a couple of reload gunners, you can turn them in AA gunners,

if you change your mind about which nation,
then for IJN 4 FP, 4 TB and maybe 2 DBs and the two gunners
for KM 4FP, 4DB and maybe 2 PB and two gunners

for MN and SN, i dont know the right planes for them, havent checked them out

for all nations, you can have 1 or 2 rookies as scounts simply because they do stay
in the air longer than fighters, but it is completely up to you

now as for all crew you roll, try to get 12+ in the proper areas (fighter for FP,
bomber for TB and DB, aircraft for scout)

i hoped this helped, you atleast of some sort of starting point
