Okay, this is a little off the water here kind of topic, but it is worth a shot.

For a ship such as DD (that really has no change to survive), give them the option to
load a raft on their ship that they can use in GB2, and GB2 only. But this raft is
anything but a few ordinary sailors, they are actually on a sabotage mission. I
believe this raft would give DD a change to make it in GB2 and actually be useful -
aside from loading 2x HH on their ship and just fire at SS for 0 damage :/.

The raft itself would work like a torpedo, but would be able to be maneuvered by the
player itself (much like a plane from a CV). It would, however, need to be invincible
inorder for the raft to actually be effective. But, it would have a limited ammount of
fuel to reach its target; and should it fail, then it sinks to the ocean floor and never
be heard of again.

The idea can be branched off. You could do multiple things: sabotage front
weaponry, rear weaponry, engines (long shot there, but possibly for a few seconds),
or just sabotage the hull for reasonable damage.

I am not good at statistics however, so somebody other than me should make those,
otherwise I would end up being like: "Damage: 99,999/Knt: 510/Fuel: 99,999"
(completely imbalanced, so you get my point.)
Please feel free to shoot this topic down if it is to much of a long-shot or wont work.
Also feel free to add or improve upon this topic if you feel it would work.

Yeah i think it was the British that sabotaged a German harbour... anyways i never
learned anything about commandos successfully stealing any large ww2 warships.
In daylight you would be seen from miles and be shot. Maybe a raid at night, but Gb2 is
always in daylight so no chance for that. Then again the game is in RTS mode with a
birds eye view, you can see anything even the splash of MG bullets.
Saying the craft should be invisible/invincible is really not a good idea, i mean how the
heck we gonna counter a ghost?
Imagine 20+ players DD joins in...

But how about this,... a Torpedo Craft launched from DD and CL. They work like planes
as you said and they fire torpedos once they are in close range. They are fast, nimble
and small. To counter them is either another FF/DD/CL or a fighter/bomber planes
strafing them.Strafing works like what would a normal planes engages enemy planes
except they descend as if they were engaging a low flying planes.

Commando teams and frogmen were used to damage ships in harbor, not ships underway at sea.

My AA ship gets shot when I get too close and can't fight, can my AA boat be made
invincible too?

they just need rockets but it will make them real pests. Also if you want to play as
sniper, roll KM and get ~40lvl gunners. You can equip 1barrel guns that almost have bb1
range :)

No need for a raft or some such. DD is perfectly usable and survivable in GB2 if you
use it right.
And yes, you can do more than sub hunt with it, although that is one of the most
important things you can do with it in GB2.
Just learn to be patient, you cant rush like in Blitz and expect to survive.

I don't know really, mostly I don't know if this is worth the large amount of coding for
the small gain. You would need to code in an ability for guns and stuff to be destroyed or
weakened and if you did that you might as well let ships just be dynamic targets, with
destroyable guns if shot in the right places.

That is why I added the 'must be invincible inorder for the raft to actually be effective.'

I realize that in real life they would be shot up before being remotely close, but to be
totally honest, in real life I could use my 10" guns to shoot a torpedo out of the water
while it is skimming the surface. I could also bring down a BB with two torpedos. So we
are not talking real life here, sorry.

This is a way for DD to be implemented into GB2, effectively giving them something
useful rather than being completely useless.
