  • mfischers traceroute/lag thread nuked ?????

What happened to mfischers thread with all the trace routes and information about a
possible reason for lag issues ?

Was it nuked because no one at $DE did anything about it ?

He does a bunch of work for you guys for free and instead of correcting the problem and/or
keeping us informed you nuke the 10 page thread ?

As I said a number of posts earlier, I as the Head Moderator removed it and I am locking
this one.

So someone from $DE came in and deleted the thread ?

....... instead of responding with an update.

So, more correctly....

If someone at $DE spent 1/10 of the time they spent reading/nuking the last thread
and dealing with this one we might at least know a phone call has been made.

FMs had nothing to do with deleting fischer's thread

No you are not being consistent. Responses in threads are changed and modified all the
time when not appropriate as opposed to the whole thread being nuked. But this is
pointless, I'm sure you are 100% right.

Yes the original question was answered. Adults realize a 10 page forum thread is an
evolving conversation. New questions/concerns were raised. Concerns were acknowledged by
$DE. People expressed hope for an update to the problem during 3 weeks. No update. So,
it appears no one has done anything. Have they done anything other than acknowledged that
a random person on their forums seems to know more about what is going on with their game
than they do ?

This may solve nothing in-game but the cavalier/ignore/I-don't-give-a-crap attitude toward
the players is the real problem. mfischer spent his own time tracking down this problem
and put it on the forums.... Why should we "expect no feedback on the issue" in
forums..... that's where it was brought up.... isn't that kind of the point of forums ?

If someone at $DE spent 1/10 of the time the forum mods have spent nuking the last thread
and dealing with this one we might at least know a phone call has been made.

You can try and spin $DE's non response and the thread nuke anyway you like but expressing
legitimate frustration with $DE is not bashing.

I am - inappropriate bashing of the people who provide these boards is not acceptable and
there is no requirement for it to be left festering on here. Even more so when the core
assertion of the information was not factually correct. The thread was answered early on,
this one has been answered as well and the information from the thread and subsequent
emails has been passed up the chain.

I do not expect the forums will get specific feedback on the issue, but if there is
actually anything that can be done that would enhance the game environment then I know the
Devs will look at it.

Vick,
We can read. We all knew the servers were not in Korea. Then another problem was found
and discussed. The reason people were "bashing" $DE is because there was no reply as to
the status of the problem other than "OK, got it, passed it on" from soBlue and then
nothing for about 3 weeks. That is not really bashing unless you have such low
expectations as to think ignoring your player-base for 3 weeks is acceptable. Just funny
how other threads are edited and pruned and this one was just binned.... at least be
consistent.

So, you are saying that because the statements made by mrfischer on that thread
were not true you felt entitled to just do away with it? Wouldn't a reply "you are
wrong" have done a better job?

nuking a whole thread for a few bad apples is not how it should have been done. simply
delete the offending posts and lock it. problem solved.

it was a bit of overkill vick.

Course you are not banned from posting mfischer, otherwise you would not have been able to
ask the question. However, you assertion that the servers had moved to Korea was not true
and that was answered very early on in the thread. You submitted the same information in
a ticket and were answered by a GM and I also highlighted the information you provided to
me, along with the report potential, up the chain. So the points you wanted to make and
the threat of report have been seen by the appropriate people.

I would have been quite happy to leave the thread in the forums, but unfortunately it
gradually became an apparent open excuse to bash SDE and to keep raising the 'servers in
Korea' question, which as I already said was answered very quickly. Consequently, it was
not serving any further purpose and unfortunately it was inappropriate to leave it as a
magnet for bashing, so it was removed. No high-horse tactics at all, just simple
moderation of the threads and posts in this board provided to us by SDE. Of course anyone
who has a complaint about my moderation can write to me on email and I will get an
independant assessment from the GMs on the action taken. If they feel it should be
returned, with or without any posts edited then I will gladly do that.

What I meant by you providing the information to anyone who was interested is quite simply
a recognition of the helpful chap you are then I am sure you would not mind if someone
PM'd you would provide the original information to them in private.
