I remember this one time when I was in my FF trying to sneak by a montana. He
was fighting an AW ship so when it sunk I was its next target. Well he decided not
to switch back to HE and slammed me with about 10 shells dealing about 1000
damage.

Submergence is the ships overall resistance to damage iirc. So basically a Andrea Doria will
take far less damage from shells than a submarine regardless of armors and angle.

I could be wrong, but I think it's a hidden value, unrelated to structural strength or HE
defense.
