An announcement is made in advance, especially this week since the servers are
down a day early but typically the announcement is made morning/afternoon of the
maintenance. Thread locked since suggestion is already in place

Strange, as far as I am concern, such a system for this already exists. It is located smack dabbed in the middle
of the home screen with the time and date and usually fall on the day each week for routine's sake.

Also these friendly folks called tnf spam more than enough times a heads up that the server will be down.

Or do you want bell service to personally give you a call?

How is SDE supposed to "Make" the player know the servers are down?
Might just be easier to check the "Game news and updates" section of these forums.
