  • (TNF pls read) NavyFIELD at ConnectiCON convention 2011

Hello, its Cuda.
I'm going to my local convention this summer, in July, and I'm planning to wear a
NavyFIELD advertisement in the form of a cardboard ship model. Yes I know it
sounds crazy. You guys might remember the guy who made that "How NOT to Play
NavyFIELD" video... His idea of the FF costume made me lol so much that I just HAD
to make one. It's in the works now.
To the mods- What I'm wondering is, if I advertise NF, will $DE sue me? I don't
wanna tick them off, but as far as I know it's just free publicity for you guys. I'm
going to make an audio promo for NF too and blast it over my speakers if that's all
right. I just don't know the system for advertising a company or product you do not
work for.
Yes as I said, I know this idea sounds freaking insane. Lol. But I didn't have a
cosplay ready in time this year so I'm gonna be the FF. Mods get back to me.

Well since I'm at a convention at the present it would make sense for a gaming company
such as SDE to try and promote their game, it would increase membership as well as their
pockets, hell it would be cool if they also passed out promo codes as an incentive to join
like other games promoting them selves.
To cuda: I hope you enjoy your convention and get some laughs, but for laughs try and
cosplay as a bb6 its so much more pro

I like this. We should give you bonus points for this if you manage to pull it off.

Hey again. I just wanted to post this: The inspiration for my project. A few years ago
the winner of the NF Video contest was this guy in Europe who made a parody
called "How Not to Play NavyFIELD". Here is his frigate costume.

I have already made the Hull and there's plenty of cardboard left for the rest.
I'm planning to make the turrets soon. The barrels of the guns will be made from
cardboard liners that come with rolls of toilet paper. xD

Still getting the hang of this site's image code. Sorry.

overall the idea is great. really...

but when ppls see that game and reading about the problems and bugs we
have..and how ignorance sde are...then it wents more into a blame of ur self then
anything else.

good luck m8...but the game doesnt worth it in my eyes

Sadly I do not have a laptop. D: But that's Ok, I'm going to prepare an explanation
of the game so people can listen and get into it. Perhaps some video of me playing
NF will do... ...iPod??? Idk yet. But anyway, I'm working on the ship faithfully. The
only issue I can find is how to make the turrets rotate, because they're cardboard.
xD

adam you are 100% correct in your statement, the only reason NF would have to
sue is if you tried to give their company a bad name, that would be like making a
sign saying metallica rules and them sueing you for using their name, just wouldnt
happen

you will be fine, have fun and make sure you do it right, and I foresee no issues here

maybe bring a laptop with NF on it, and show some ppl some battles ( wait...did i go
to far.... :P

as fox has said, you cannot copywrite military ships. the only thing that may be bad is
the name navyfield.. and being as your willfully provideing them with a form of free
advertiseing they have no grounds to act in anycase.

it would simply fall under the catogory of fan created content.

so long as your not causeing trouble in their name and make it clear you dont represent
the game or sde no one can do anything. i dont think.
