  • Fixes and Modifications for the Ship Trees, Plus Other Things

Hi again. I just wanted to point some things out.
-Russia
1) There appears to only be one remodellable ship. Methinks it needs moar. The
other nations have lots of remodels.
2) Also, a LARGE number of Russian ships in NF are badly outdated for the WWII
period- for example, Pallada and Rurik were sunk by the Japanese in the Russo-
Japan War of 1904-1905. That's clearly too old. Perhaps we should remedy this.
3) Russia needs a PCL. I'd buy it for sure. XD
4) I noticed that the USSR only goes to CV5 in it's CV line. o___0
5) The sprite designers got lazy- these ships are all designed based on graphics
ripped from other existing NF ships!
6) Only 4 Subs? Other nations go to SS5 already.
-In general
1) I think that the Neutral Nation should have a Frigate-Z. Not just because there's
an X and a Y, but because it'd be cool to have a FFZ with AA Pom Poms. That sounds
like a cool escort ship, especially for those who don't go with UK's Emerald Class
ship.
2) Actually, you should be able to have a Pom-Pom style rapid-AA for every nation. It
would make training for AA usage easier for US, USSR, MN, KM, and IJN players. As
far as I'm aware only the Brits get them for ships. I've heard the Germans can have
them on a submarine but I still don't play Germany NOR submarines. As do other
people.
3) Now that I mention AA... The USN's guide lines for AA should be universal. It
doesn't make sense for only the US to use them.
-IJN (mostly naming issues to be fixed)
1) Remove "Kai" from Akitsuki and Kuma remodels. "Kai" in Japanese is short
for "Kaizou" which means modified, but this term was NOT applied to capital ships
such as these in the Kaigun.
2) Tsukikei... Oh God, don't get me started. "Tsukikei" does not exist in the Japanese
language. They should perhaps rename it. EDIT: Also, my previous point about the
Tsukikei was that the other fake ships in this game were really designed or planned
but never built. For example the Russian ship Sovetzky Soyuz was really
planned. "Super Yamato", as this game calls it, was really designed as well, but the
IJN gave up on the project. (Read about it below, the real name was "Design A-150,
Muteki Nippon")

) Tatsuda should be "Tenryu"- NF seems to be naming ships by their class, and
Tenryu was the lead ship of this class. Tatsuda was built later.
4) "Simakaze" is incorrect. I am studying the Japanese language, and they do NOT
have the "si" sound. It should be "Shimakaze".
5) Hiryu should be "Soryu"... Soryu was the lead ship in her class, and as I said
before, it's about consistancy. NF names most of its ships by class, but Hiryu was not
the class name.
6) The De Grasse probably doesn't fit as an IJN CV6. It is a German concept, and the
Germans never could have sold any of this sort of thing to Japan. Even in a
hypothetical situation, they simply couldn't do that, due to the sheer distance
between their two territories, and the fact that the US would get in the way if they
tried it. I think perhaps another papership would do fine here. Maybe just rename it.
7) Donburi is not a Japanese WWII ship. It belonged to the Royal Thai Navy. I think
that it's still a good ship and should not be removed, but perhaps a rename would
be nice. I still love this ship, as I can put over 18" of belt armour on it and run into
blitz. People's reactions are the funniest when they see me bounce 8" shells on that
tinny little ship. XD
8) The "Super Yamato" was the attributed name to a project called A-150. The
AMERICANS named it Super Yamato, not the Japanese. The IJN actually planned to
call it "Muteki Nippon".
-USA
Nothing to say here, as I've never played as the US Navy in NF, so I don't have any
firsthand experience to note.
-France
1) They ALSO appear to only have 5 CVs. -.-
2) As with Russia, all the MN ships are all copied or modified from other NF sprites.
I'd appreciate some original design work, as I've heard others voice complaints
about this. I.E.: Reynaud looks like an Emden Clone, etcetera.

I'll come back with more as I go, folks, but I'm outta time for now.

ARE YOU SERIOUSLY BASING YOUR ARGUMENTS ON REALISM THEN ASKING FOR
SHIPS THAT DON'T EXIST?
Yeah. I just noticed that. @___@ Let's just put it this way: Tsukikei is not a word in
Japanese...They should at the very least rename it. I'll update the 1st post.

no one said there needs to be 6 CVs or 6 BBs. RN has 7 Cvs, US with its remods can
have 8 BBs, IJN and its remods can have 9 CVs.

most of the specific stuff make this game unique. If every line for every nation had the
same attributes then what's the point of nations? Pompoms, AA guide lines, proxy
torps, BB with no scout space, DD with no Ts, entire nation with extra support slot, etc.

MN and SN are not exactly renowned for their high number of cv designs

I agree with the remodel part.
SN needs 5 R-slot DD. For example it would be great if they add Tashkent remodel with
5 R-slots and 1 or even 0 T-slots (:

Some SN ships may be outdated but NF is not only about WWII. Besides, there is one
Pallada class ship still in "active" service in Russian navy ;)

US guidelines are not needed.

Pom-Poms are fun but not effective weapon.

"this ship is pure fiction"

this is a game not a documental
do you want amagis or charlemagnes also removed ?

cosmetic changes are good but our devs have limit time/persons, they already have enough
problem trying to learn how to modify their own code, so no
cosmetic changes are not the priority, balancing/bug fixing is

btw tsukikei is a great for escort

2) Russian ships are outdated - yes, that is because they don't have any WWII ships. This
is a make-believe fleet so they had to pick things 50 years out of date. The SN fleet is
the Mr Rogers neighborhood of SDE.

6) I don't know what the heck you are talking about, no other nation has SS5 either.

3) The USN guidlines were set up as one of their traits. If you give that to everyone,
then you need to give the USN ships something else, as the others got armor, range,
speed... US got "balance" and the guidlines.

2) Tsukikei - How can you advocate getting rid of this make believe ship??? We would have
to get rid of ALL the BB6s, most of the the BB5s, 3/4 of the French and the entire SN that
yuno worked so hard to create.

4) I agree, the "h" is missing in this ship's name. Yuno's henchmen spelled it wrong

5) Hiryu should not be Soryu. There were a class in name only. In reality, they were two
completely different ships. The Hiryu was larger but a little slower. Also, Hiryu's island
bridge was on the LEFT side of the ship and Soryu's on the right. Soryu also was well know
as not only being one of the fastest carriers in the world, but one of the tighest
turning. Neither of these traits applied to Hiryu.

6) Agreed De Grasse as an IJN ship is indeed utterly stupid. It shouldn't be there,
period. But WTH, we have all these all make believe ships, why not that too.

7) Donburi was a thai ship, but it was built in Japan and Siam was a Japanese ally in the
war, even helping attack French Indo China. Japan even later had Siam's ships operating
with them doing patrol duty. I don't see a problem with them having this ship with this name.

one modification for the ship tree in game would be display of remodels and ship tiers.

nf != rl

- russia
1) true, it got only one remod, but i think its not necessary
2) russia during wwII mostly concentrate on tanks against the germans, so only few ships
and some are during wwI
3)probably they haven't plan it yet but it will be in the near future
4) actually it got cv3, the look at the ship tree, from cv1 - cv 2 - cv4 - cv5 - cv6
5)welcome to the copy world :D
6) relax they haven't add a window yet in the ship tree

- general
2) we don't need more pompoms, its already laggy from 1 or 2 pompoms and besides pompoms
is usefull when planes are really near on its range or passing to its range... so far km
got the easiest aa to learn.
3) thats the US advantage you can't give it to the other nations, if you want then give mn
the armor of uk :D, give sn the range of km rofl

-ijn
1) it does have some small modification
akatsuki-kai got +6 on its t slot
while kuma-kai gain 2 t slot
2)25% of the ships does not exist or still in drawing that haven't been built
3-5) can't answer :D
6) well they're both axis then they share cv6 :D but i think it would be best to have its
own nation cv6

-france
1) same as sn except mn got no cv5, cv1 - cv2 - cv3 - cv4 - cv6
2) only the pca, ecl, and the pcv is a copied sprite, pbb is really a french ship just like
the seva of us that is really a Russian ship,

NF =/ history

Although I do agree with you on many of your points.

As for Tsukikei, it doesn't need T slots. It's an excellent gunline DD.
