Your thoughts?

I am currently running the mogami 44, as I am grinding to the Junyo.
Your thoughts on this hybrid?
I find it to be an odd ship to play, with a combo of guns, torpedoes and planes.

Mogami 44 is a blast to play, gotta be my new favorite IJN ship.

You can AA, mount ASW weapons, launch scouts, fighters and bombers.

It works very well in the support role.

if you're pushing for the Junyo, and you're not wanting to take the exp hit, you might
want to change your main R guns to hedgehogs. or drop the torps.

if you use guns + any combination of HH, torps, or TBs (not sure how DBs work for this),
then you take an exp hit similar to the one you take when you a ship off your own team
by "accident".

I'm on the Oyodo/Mogami CL currently (BO for the Mogami level 39, but just got my
pilots up and classed into FP/TBs) so I haven't gotten into the Mogami CA/CV yet. but
I'm on the same path for the Junyo.

It is a fun ship to play. I enjoyed using scouts and mines with her.

What if mogami was a seaplane tender after the APA, and all other nations had ones
like it?

she'll teach you to drag your fp in GB's

with T2's or T3's (i've ran T4's on her, but there's really not enough space for
those) you can do a good job scouting, asuming your not engaging fighters
(hence you'll learn to drag)

downside is again that you dont have enough space to hunt bombers & scouts,
since losing 3 or 4 planes to friendly aa realy hurts on a mogami.

btw; try HH on the T-slots, even more fun in GB when you can add some asw to
your team as well.

Put 3 bombers on there and the rest of the open slots you can use for leveling up
other sailors. Now you have to be careful how you use your bombers, but if you pick
your targets with a little bit of care, you can easily do 50k - 80k in damage. When
this damage is on BB4 and 5s, the experience really pays off.

Another thing to do is to follow a big CV 5 that has tons of T4 fighter planes - you
just send your bombers following his fighters.

If you play it right, it's like an extra carrier on the team. All you do is bomb bomb
bomb. And no one is going to get upset that you are sending up only bombers.

Of course if you get fighter camped you are screwed.

Overall very fun if played correctly in specific roles.

I wheel this ship like a hammer in blitz, dual 8" L to snipe angry ships. Having that
surfboard flight deck makes enemy cvs greedy and want to bomb it, so i let my locals
shred them for breakfast.

In GB I play as an escort CV and loiter the north border since so many ppl borderhump.
Kill a squad of bombers for a chicken dinner. maybe drag and chew a few t4.

Excellent ship that can asw, torp, AA, localW, BW, mineW and more in either blitz or GB.
Best part is that it is classed as a CA so you arent jacking a CV spot and when ppl
whine about noob CV youz aint even mad.

aye, that's the way I am starting to play it
t1 fighters only, in GB2
Shot down 1 scout and got 16k exp, and I scouted for the bbs.
blew their bbs and cvs out of the water, hehe

yes, the Mogami 44 is odd. i've come to regard it as a well armed seaplane tender;
primary mission is to scout and mine if you have mines that is. Fighter planes and
bombers (either torpedo or dive bombers, doesn't matter much) are 2nd and 3rd
goals respectively. Reason i say scouting is of most importance is simply, and sad to
put it, is that most BB's and even some CV's fail to provide sight to BB's and CV's.
Hope you won't be too disappointed with that of a scout carrier, but at least it'll net
some EXP and mining will provide the occasional lucky hit for attack. oh, guns and
torps are defensive in nature, so only use them as a last resort or for picking off
DD's and the occasional SS. It might look like a CA, but play it as a scout heavy CV
and stick to the carriers behind the lines. Or, if you equip locals, you can hunt down
some enemy scouts and keep them blind, but be careful as you'll be operating
ridiculously close to the battle line and BB's always do the "Shoot first, question
later" montage. hope this helps
