  • When does the County become effective?

I have a level 45 BO and level 47 gunners but I wanted to know when you can really
effectively use the county. I don't want to just jump into it and get owned like when
you make the jump from dd to cl. Or should I just keep leveling my new bo for the
york and not bother with the county. I know the plus and minus of each line but I
can continue to level my current bo in my sirius or edin and play ca in the other line.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My SD is around 190.

You can effectively use the County straight off. You won't have to wait around for you
gunners to level to 45. The best guns should be available off the bat. If you have been
using the Edinburgh with 8"D's you will have some experience with HA and slow reload. The
same caveat applies as when going up other ship levels - you are gonna suck to begin with,
whatever you do. The biggest problem will be higher level players, as always. Just watch
learn from the other players, stay with your team and beware the rushing CL, because you
can be raped by a close quarters CL in no time flat. Give the County a try. Keep the
Sirius if you can afford it to fall back on and to level your other BO in.

I've used the County from level 43, I'm now level 49. My gunners are 51. High angling is
the way to go as he potential damage is greater than not HA. Using AP I have started
sinking some of the lower level BB and BC when lucky. My spread is still pretty crap and I
still find it difficult to get the angles first time so spend too long hunting for the
range. Range isn't that good even with the L's. Can't think of anything I significantly
out range, possibly a low level Northhampton, but it's close. You can fit quite a bit of
armour, I have 3.5" deck, but it's expensive and doesn't seem to make me shell proof.
Slow, but many CA's are. Many people don't like HA'ers, but with the slow reload, less
guns and without the APC shells you are a different beast all together from the Atlanta.

The York is much smaller, has the triple 8" but IMO doesn't become the ship many hate
until you have 4 bar/gold bar gunners. I also have a York BO at level 42 but have found
the County easier at lower levels. You can remodel the York to the Surrey and have
basically a small County if you want. I'm planning on levelling the County BO to the level
of the Revenge then starting on the York again. My gunners should be around 56-57 by then,
if I ever get there. Level the York to 52 for the Renown and hopefully my gunners will be
high enough to use better guns in either BB/BC. Of coarse I'm gonna suck again... Life
goes on.

when you are comfortable with HA'ing, and when your spread is manageable while
high angling.

What would you consider to be a good sd at this stage in the game sdp1? Thanks
for the reply.

I only used it for a few games, I didn't like it much - some people do really well in it,
some don't - I much prefered the York.

but;

CL2 heavy engine (iirc)
Dual 8" Ls
Mostly deck.
Good SD.
Good gunners.

iirc you want about 1.6mil to spend. the dual 8" Ls are level 42 so your gunners
should be ok with them.

There has to be someone out there who has used the county. Anyone?
