I think that it would be a good idea to implement better plane controls...
For example;
Allow a button to be engaged to set a radius lock (unchanble radius) where when you send your scout, or fighter or whatever plane to a certain area they will patrol taht area, and engage anything within that area, but will not follow anything OUT of that area. good for keeping your fighters from following something back into enemy territory and following landing planes down in turn making your planes caput by ship AAW. This would also be a key or something that would allow you to turn this function on or off..
OR on the other hand, have an ALTITUDE lock (assuming that idea 1 above is bad or some other reason not accepted) be able to set your planes to not change their altitude kind of for the same reasons as above. and have that something that can be over-ridden with a key
