This should probably go into the suggestions forum, so if a mod feels that it should go
there, then by all means move it there.


As many of you might already know the Dido class light cruiser was built in several
variants. The first group built were only fitted with 4 turrets due to material shortages
and difficulty in building the 5.25 guns (this is the baseline Dido in NF).

The second group (Dido was the only of the original to be refit) mounted 5 twin 5.25
turrets. This is the Sirius remodel that we see in NF.

The third group mounted 4 twin 4.5 turrets due to a lack of 5.25 guns. Which is seemingly
adaquate in their role as AA cruisers and convoy escorts.

Now my proposed addition to the game would be the Bellona class (or sub-class). The
Bellonas only had 4 turret mounts, but had 500 tons more displacement vs. a standard Dido,
better standard AA defense, and improved radar systems. Very similar to the American
Juneau class.

To differentiate Bellona from Dido and Sirius, Bellona would have 500+ tons more usuable
displacement vs. Dido/Sirius. This would pay dividends with fatter crews or more armor.
With the twin 6/50Ls, Bellona could be a potential CL2/CA1 killer. Bellona would also need
a noticably higher AAW rating than Dido/Sirius to reflect her superior AA ability. To
reflect her improved radar/FCS equipment more FCS space, and perhaps a new FCS (lets call
this new FCS CL2) to reflect this. DP for Bellona should be the same as Sirius. I see
Bellona being one lvl higher than Sirius in the tree.

The more variety the better in this game, and it is always a bonus when there is a
historical precedence for a given ship too.
