There's the Somalia mission in ZH that lets you in control of a CVN, and 5 BBs. Of
course, they're to big to sail around, but they are in the map.

WTF? Generals has ships?Last time I played it the closest thing to using a ship was
a cutscene of a US BB providing cover support. Then again, I never beat the whole
campaign of zero hour because I got bored of it.

Of course, if Reid was doing his Fletch with a full hull, he'd need hull section frames
to see where the hull curves.

See the Carrier and BB in Generals to see the details that can be fitted. Unless, of
course, Vdub isn't doing his ships that big.

Archer all you need to turn something that's bilaterally semetrical from 2d to 3d is
front, side, and top view. For example to make my fletcher I'm using this picture as a
reference

You physically build a 3d model of it in a program (Be it that, 3DS Max, Milkshape, etc),
then you scale it and convert it to a file the game can recognize as a 3D model. Then, the
game sees the ship as what it is--an ingame, 3D model.

It's still missing the torp housings.

Does the game support animations? As in, rotating turrets? If so, are you modeling the
turrets as separate models? Or--how's that work in C&C:G? I know in games I've modded,
rotating sections are completely different meshes, more often then not.

But how do you actually take a historical ship and turn it into 3d?
I've heard that you scan in a ship's line drawing and base it off of that somehow...

no, its 1600 polys cnc normaly has 400-800 polys, but those are units that are mass
produced, there will be maybe 8 of these (if all 8 choose this side) its gonna be a
fleet war type mod

dude timmy it's going to end up being 800 polys and apparently will be used in C&C
Generals, no need for so much detail.
