  • AA gun/use noob question

I've been playing around with AA on my old Z1. I had dual 4.1's in the regular slots
with reg gunners. In the T slots, I put single 4.1 AA guns with level 25 AA gunners.

The AA gunners sucked IMO. I shot the R slots and put up a crapload of shells at
planes. With the T slots, I shot considerably less shells and a way slower rate.

Can somebody enlighten me on this subject? I am new to AA. Also, some pointers
to shooting planes down would be helpful. Also, do you do any zooming in and out
while using AA?

DO I need to get my AA gunners to level 30 so I can get the dual 3.46's?

What do you think?

OK, I have level 25 AA gunners and I'm using single 4.1's in the R slot. I will put the
AA gunners in the support slots to level them up to 30. I like the advise on the Mpro
with long and short range. I'm getting ready to get a Kburg though for the
challenge of it. I'm keeping my Z1 to convert in AA ship for practice. I have a Z99 for
creds. Also, I am leveling a scout for my Kburg.

Is this the weird German quirk where you can use regular gunners in the R slots but
use AA guns?

Thanks for the advise guys

Peace

First off, if you have room on your DD and do not have AA gunners yet put them in
the support slots as most battles you will not live long enough for supports to make
a big difference I say. It also gives me my torp gunners and main gunners on my Z99
the ability to still give their punch rather than taking two of them off for the gunners
to take a ride. However if you were really into it, once the AA gunners are level 30
you can either make a Z1 pack it with 5 2x 3.45" A Flak guns and act as a small fast
anti air ship. I would sudjest waiting until level 37 for a Mpro, it has 5 mounts that
can carry 3.45" A flak guns, mount those and 6.75" duals turrets you have a nice
carrier defence ship. Or if you were really into flak, put 5.9"L's on the main four
mounts and use AAC rounds so you have long range flak with the 4 5.9"L Duals, and
short range fast firing flak on the 5 secondary mounts with the 3.45" A dual Flak
guns.

I thought that the normal angle for this kind of aa guns was something around 52
degrees. Is it really below 40 ?

Yeah, but range and power for those guns isn't great. When you'll get 5'' AA the real fun
will begin!
Meanwhile, those are good for practice.

Use the lvl 30 3.46"/ 78 Sk C/32 in u R slots. And be an aa boat these guns do NOT
need aa gunners they are normal gunners but only carry aa rounds and thier reload
timeis 0.80 seconds. Very Fast. The angles u should use is 36-37 that hits all planes

hope this helps
