+10 to the first person who necro'd this thread and spawned a chain of necro's (loool)

But in the case some new players are still looking at threads like this for advice (though
I myself am not too experienced a player), I reply.
This comes from the fair amount of time I've spent in the Bogue, 'bout as much time
anyone's really spent in the US CV1; namely 5 levels :D

The Bogue, while not the best CV, gets things done. With the amount of aircraft space you
have, you can load about 17 Local Fighters. Despite what anyone might say, at this level
of the game, local fighters are what I strongly suggest. Even with entry level fighters,
you're pilots will be able to stand up against most squads of enemy incoming short of
massed T3/4s. And though it may sound ridiculously a small amount, 17 LFs managed
correctly (i.e. Don't let them run out of fuel), will last you the whole game and then
some. Ofc if they get wiped by T3s and T4s there's nothing you can do, LFs or not.

This is what I personally did. I opted for carrying full LFs on my carrier whilst
following a greatly appreciated guide on LFs by that guy who I'd love to credit but don't
remember who and am too lazy to go look for (hope this counts as crediting), and my run on
sentence stops here...

1. Load your crapshoot tincan with all the Locals you can (which is 17)
2. Go north or south depending on where the other CVs head
3. Follow a group of BBs, or rather 1 really big BB (except BBs tend to cluster kind of)
4. Ready your fighters into 2 groups (3 and 3)
Here I'll split the scenario into 3 (a,b, and c)
5a. Search for enemy scouts and sortie 1 group (Careful with your range which at max will
be 3-3.5 screens from you)
5b. If you see a large group of fighters incoming, sortie everything you have (If they
happen to be T3/4s on roided pilots, ask for help from other CVs)
5c. Bomber waves are often hard to spot in time for a meaningful response if 1) They make
a beeline for a BB, 2) Come in under cover of clouds, 3) Your lazy teammates don't spot em
for you. Regardless, sortie all your fighters and try to circumvent damage.

That pretty much covers your task as a Bogue CV-1. You must remember that your role is
fighter cover/scout blind for your BB(s). Do not attempt to scout the enemy or cover an
entire side of a map like the higher tiered CVs do. Doing this right will make your next 5
levels a breeze and make you somewhat reluctant to leave your Bogue .... (Ok, not really
lol) And done right, you'll get anywhere from 30-50k Credits a game, MUCH MORE than what
you can expect from sitting in your CA-1. You also level that much faster because your
crew level and ship level correspond. Also, this is the tactic you'll want to use (if you
want to be effective that is) until you achieve tier 2 or 3 fighters.

*** Important things to keep in mind: (1) Stay a couple ship lengths away from the BB
line. You do not want to cross them. If you are within crossing range, you'll also be
within firing range of enemy BB's. (2) Keep in mind your LF have terrible fuel range.
Losing them due to out of fuel is in vain and will put much stress on your 17 Fighter
capacity. Especially keep in mind that fighters who announce "Out of fuel, returning
home", will stay out if they are forced to an engagement unless you manually call them
back. (3) As a flag, be specially careful of the dangers you're in. Sinking early just
makes is that much harder on your team and they hate you much more than that. The
playstyle I recommend makes being a flag pretty irritating but you just gotta live with
it. At any rate, Bomberwhores will come to you anyways, feeding your LFs.

****Note on bombing**** At this level of the game, your pilots and bombers are food to
enemy AA and fighters. Especially so since you can't afford to waste planes with your
precious aircraft space. What I personally did, when I desperately felt the need to bomb,
was load 1 waves worth of ammunition and planes on my carrier. I would fighter cove the
whole game until the game came to its final stages (Your BBs rushing to clean up the other
side) then release my bombers and go for the biggest target on the other team (minus the
CV ofc). Keep in mind you still might have to watch for fighters or enemy AA escorts. But
by bombing late in the game, you ensure you hit your target and get a free attack score
towards your creds/exp.

Historically, CVEs were used mostly for air cover of convoys, to ferry ground-based
aircraft or replacement aircraft for fleet carriers, or (mainly) as ASW hubs.

If SD will add more in terms of sub-hunting and sub-killing to the CV's playbook, the
Bogue and other CVEs will have more of a useful role. They aren't meant to be
fleet-battle linchpins, mostly because of their low speed and limited air wing.
Historically, they operated in groups, which is kind of hard to make happen in NF.

You do realize this threat is 3 years old?

Other than that bogue sucks its the worst cv1 out there.

I LOVE THE BOGUE.it is not trash.i got indy but bogue was worth the time using
it.from the bogue i had not good pilots horrible like stunk. 7 lvls later i got 4 bve ftrs
lvl 60+ in hellcats taking out tier 3 pilots.i gained maybe a like 2 mill in this thing.i
never thought i would learn so much from a cv1.though the indy has better plane
space i think bogue is the best cv1 in game.trust me its a pain for the first lvl of
getting used to being flag a bit using planes but it gets way easier.

The reasons why many people say that the Bouge CV1 sucks, is because they tried using the
Bouge as a fleet carrier. Big mistake. The Bouge Class, was an escort carrier. Their job,
was to provide a modest air support to convoys and landing forces, which freed the larger
fleet carriers for more important tasks. Escort carriers are both too small and have too
small of an airspace for main fleet carrier tasks, so don't play with the fleet carriers.
Instead play as an escort to a battleship, using your fighters as air cover. If you have
to use your bombers wait until almost all the enemy fleet carriers have been sent to a
watery grave. That way you will avoided dealing with large numbers of enemy fighters
