  • Guide to Torping! From Noob to Pro

SZ9000
Now I have literally seen people who are torp enthusiasts willing to just spray torps like
wild but all they do is cause annoyances for their team mates & the opponent; their such
acts certainly do not buy a victory to their team but all they do is just make their life
tougher & other people's so here's my guide so all you early starters can start owning
battles & open the gateways to pipeburst xp flow & level up faster.
P.S: This guide is particularly for non-TW DDs, tough the same methodology can be applied
but TWs are just meant to spray torps, also this method is applicable to all nation's DDs
(Note I say DDs due to the fact that Cls & above are meant to use guns as their only
source of damage infliction, using torps just simply means you dont know how to play NF.)

This guide is divided into 5 steps:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SETTING UP YOUR TORPEDOES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the most fundamental part in Torping, the earlier you set up your torps the
better. If you are using auto Fcs fine, but if you are using manual FCS you have more edge
as long as you know how to Use Manual FCS(Here i'm using Manual FCS ). Controlling Manual
Torpedoes is just like controlling your gun turret, pressing Q or E makes the torpedo line
wide or Narrow(always set your torpedo line in narrow sight).

*Now Press N or in the Ship Control bar set your torpedo angle to Wide (For larger ships,
Narrow for smaller ships or slow Larger ships).
*Set your torpedo speed to fast (since you're not a TW)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AIMING THE FISH(TORPEDOES)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the most, THE MOST !! ESSENTIAL !! part to torping if you cant do this then Die
choking on something organic like a torpedo lol (Dont do it). What you need to do instead
is aim your torpedoes, remember always target bigger ships like big DDs (such as Z99, DDX
etc), all Cls, all CAs, for all bigger ships than a CA your nothing more than fodder. Dont
forget to target especially the Premium Cls & CAs it'll help your team alot

*First sight your target by staying with Cl cover (My target for today is a PCL Texas)

*As soon as you spot your target OverRev Your Engine to get close to it in a head on angle
(Here the Texas is doing that) but I'm doing the most difficult torping angle which will
make easy the easier part.

*Now put your Torpedo line directly on the ships front tip & check the speed (if the
ship's above 40 knots put your line a few inches ahead of the ships, if its below 40 knots
put it directly on the front most part of the ship (Remember the angles which one for
which ship) here my angle is wide as I was expecting a CA but see this works too
perfectly.This is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART ROTE LEARN IT

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SHOOTING YOUR TORPEDOES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For Goodness sake dont shoot your torpedoes but your ships' torpedoes lol. Remember its
always a good kill when you shoot your Torps 5 1/2 or 6 points far from the ship(See the
above image)

*As soon as you've got these things right! Then open the play Mein Kampf written by Adolf
Hitler :). NO DAMN IT SHOOT YOUR TORPS

*Poor Sexy Texy, oh well i'm getting xp what do I care

*Remember any closer than point 5 & probably your torpedoes will bounce & U die, sorry for
wrong counting on one screen though

** STEP 4 & 5 WILL COME TOMORROW
Hope you enjoyed learning this, if you find some error plz feel free to correct like a
gentleman, & if this helps you please dont forget to recommend me.

You have mistakes on your screens. It would be good to check everything couple times,
before posting.

argueable...

however, i will support your claim, IF the PCL was de facto at full health, having
sustained no bulge or ship damage...

otherwise, 1 for the PCL, and 1 for the L class..

besides....

using 10 torps on a PCL looks like overkill, and is therefore nothing incredible.

somehow, people regard it as much more pwnage if you take down 2 ships in less than 5
seconds...

basically.... you managed to take out the L class with guns in the aftermath... but say
you had half disp... meh, you know where i want...

anyway, i do NOT support torps on anything bigger than a DD(except kita/kuma).
so, please make this clear.

I want to correct something here that first the PCL was overheated, sorry I didnot have in
mind about considering posting other ships speeds aswell, 2ndly if u see the torps
carefully I fired 2 salvos to sink the PCl if I fired one it would not have sunken the PCl
but crippled it as I fired it on its front instead if I tried broadside i would've sunken
it in narrow mode.Also please keep this in mind that torps should not be wasted on small
dds(I took out the L class with my cannons & was sunken by a brooks torps due to low dp)
thats where the ships main cannons come into play *Torpedoes are only for ships which over
power you in any way* please record it it'll help

@shadistic

true, but i would prefer to fire of 1 salvo at the PCL, wait a few seconds, and fire at
the L class as i judge the pictures based on unknown speed
i would take that L class on a split second before the PCL got hit, and with an average
chance of around 86% to take it down.

anyway, i won't fuzz about it, it's just what i would have done... anyway
just noticed that the PCL was JUST outside range, 1/2 second later, it would have been too
late, and they would bounce of...
as the launch there could have easily been countered by a overheat(by rushing the torps
and take them before they activated).

I'm glad people are starting to like my Guide also if u people like it please recommend it
or incase if it needs alterations please suggest so I can get the Part 2 of it spic & span
tomorrow, if you feel like this is good but ummm not recommenable please suggest some
recommendable content so I can post it

In order to improve my second post I am asking some suggestions
1.Should there be wacky conversational captions
2.Should I in the 2nd part revise the 1st part with improvements
3.Should I hide my ships' name since its controversial
4.Should I introduce guides for countering these tactics

If you have some suggestions of your own please post it.

Dark, you only need gradual fire with 3 launchers or more if you use manual. With 2
launchers you can just use Q/E to spread them.

Nice guide, SZ. I like the captions. But since when are torpedoes organic?
