NF's game engine is getting outdated as new operating systems like vistas emerge.
I suggest that NF switch to a new game engine. This is good for the game's future market
as its graphics and control getting better with new engine. A new game engine also cause
much less problems like crashing and lag.

In fact, use 2D stuff to simulate 3D is a lot of work. However, if the engine is 3D, it is
very easy for the programers to update and maintain the game.

In term of long run cost, it is not economical to maintain a game which has outdated
engine. As the new operating systems and system patches continue to roll in, there will be
continually a lot of problems to occur---more occur as more are fixed. On the other hand,
if the game changes to a new game engine, then it gets better suited to new operating
environment, in which less problem occurs. Of course, the maintain cost becomes much lower
at this point.

"On this system, Navyfield lags pretty badly, and its not my ISP, I have 1.5Mbps
DSL.."

are you sure its navyfield... since i get 54 Mbps on my wireless connection and your
only getting 1.5 Mbps... i get a better connection of 52.5 Mbps... If you had a
internet from a cable company you would be getting at least 100 Mbps..... so i ask
you, are you sure it is navyfield that is lagging when you have such a slow speed
connection.

[EDIT] remember DSL is ran thru telephone lines and it is much slower than if you
has your ISP from your local cable company... just some things for you to think about

If the devs feel like undergoing such a large task, why not just upgrade to Valve's
Source engine( if its not allowed to say things from other companies edit me ) , as
far as I know that is the most efficient game engine out their.. I am able to run
games in 1920x1200 with Ultra High graphic settings.. My system AMD Athalon
3800+ x2 ( one burnt out core ) 2 GB ram , ATI Radeon HD 2300.. On this system,
Navyfield lags pretty badly, and its not my ISP, I have 1.5Mbps DSL..

I feel though, that if the engine is to be updated, please, keep it as a top down
simulation, if not, then change it to a CoH style view..

Hey, maybe even put the game on Steam... You would have a lot bigger player base.

ina few visual tweaks here and there . i used to play nf ona 2001 year model hp 800 mhz

understand the annoyance tryna play games on new os's i tried playing some of my old games
from the win95 days and even with a amdx2 3.06 ghz 4 gigs of ram and an 8800gt i still
couldnt get them to work cause of os issues i mean commeon something a friggin phone could
run nowadays cant play on a decent gaming rig lol good post my friend but prolly to no

to make it 3d and that can be lowered the graphics so that limited people or without
intentions progress can play.

TheHelmsman
Game engine =/= graphics renderer.

Two completely different things.

Yes, a 3D update to the renderer would be nice, but it's probably not gonna happen.

Yeah, a complete graphics-overhaul would be very nice.
I just don't think they're up for the task...

3D will ruin this game, they could improve graphic but nothing more!

P4 2Ghz 1G Ram... my problem is I am only using on-board video and sound. If major
upgrades that will require higher specs then I'd rather stay in the current NF.
