I've had way too many friends come to me telling me that they hate their
repulse/renown. I went the revenge line. I'm not saying the grind will be anymore fun
but it won't be any harder than it needs to be.

For some reason, I don't think anyone realizes this was necro'd twice for little reason...

For those of you who decry the decrying of necro threads, there's a key phrase there: For
Little Reason.

It's fine to necro one /if you have a legitimate question/. Dunno whether it's better
than writing up a new post. The OP is long gone, the first necro was a spammer who only
wrote in... I think it's Spanish. The second necro was someone responding to the OP, and
I responded to the second necro.

Anyways. Could still be an interesting discussion - we've already hit the solution to the
OP's problem multiple times, but now we can just settle into a good ol' armchair battle
between two ships. Yay.

Get another Bo and do both. I like both lines. The only ship that really needs some work
is the Vanguard so make sure to pick the L1.

Firstly, what gunners u have? if you go reload, well it doesnt makes any difference
whatever BB1 you choose, your guns spread will be very bad till u hit the high 70s.
If you go acc gunners, all the others higher Tier BB will still out range and mostly one-
two shot u. All u can do is kill smaller ships that get into your range, play some ASW
and maybe ninja a few shots in on other BBs. UK AA support. well dont bother :P
Both are BB1 so don't expect much in GB2, most ppl choosing Revenge or Renown is
because they either wants Nelson or POW as a BB3.
They like these two BB3 over hood mostly because they can use guns that block
shot.
So for me either is fine, its just a grind through process till u get higher Tier BBs

Both lines are playable, grinds are slightly short on the revenge line though. Personally
I'd chose renown because I wanted Hood

Ick - smelly thread. Looks like it's seen the cemetery twice now...

Anyways - between these two ships, the major difference isn't the number of guns, it's the
gun placement.

With the Revenge, you get a nice tight line of four turrets that groups very consistently,
even if you have Reload gunners and not Acc. With the Renown, your back turret will
scatter shots all over the place compared to your front two, which makes it difficult to
reliably damage someone else. That and the fact that the Renown demands a KM playstyle
without the KM advantages is why the Revenge usually does better.

Also, never AW either ship. Never AW anything along the York line except for the Nelly
(and even then beware the perils of doing so). 3" of deck might (and I say might) bounce
FF1 shells; if the sky is red, the sunlight at just the right angle, and Saturn is in the
third house of the Sun.

Meanwhile, the Revenge lacks the displacement to put on a worthwhile armor setup.

Put your .2 belt and as much bulge without losing a knot, and just try to survive.

I haven't used the Revenge at all, but I'm having the most horrible grind on the Renown
right now. So here's what I can share...

Revenge: 4 guns... renown: 3 guns... Simple math leads me to believe you get more bang for
your buck with the revenge. In fact, the renowns increase in gun bay size does not give
you any better gun choices than the revenge...

Renown: A decent early ship that allows you to milk the most out of the few remaining
levels in Blitz that you can enjoy! However: Once it's over (and it will be over soon) You
can enjoy the bottom of the barrel in Great War II...

Benefits? The Renown sports a good amount of AA. About the only redeeming GOOD feature of
the Renown. The amount of flack you can put out with pom pom's allows me to take out whole
squadrons if they're unlucky enough to fly past me! (set up parallel to the incoming wave,
Not perpendicular) You can get some good money that way.

Drawbacks? Your damage radius is HUGE... indeed, the very sight of dive bombers will sink
you... (that;s an exaggeration, but seriously. it's way too easy to get shot) no amount of
deck armor will protect you. And battleships can down you in 1-3 volleys (3 if they're
really bad :P) I've tried rolling out with up to 3 inches of deck to no avail. The Revenge
has a small radius FYI.

In Blitzes, a Revenge will still win out over a Renown (I suspect the extra gun is what
does it) But then again, it's a Battle CRUISER. Not a battleship. Run and gun is the name
of the game.

In conclusion: I've put my Renown aside and moved into a Dunq... You'll never get the
range to participate in a GB with it. You're as fragile as an egg in a GB. Any ship
foolish enough to get into your gun range has already been destroyed (or will be
destroyed) by a BB of greater power (they wont leave you the small fries, trust me).

So... my suggestion to you is that if you would prefer to do AA cover for flagships all
your BB1 life, use the Renown... But in my opinion: the Revenge is better. HOWEVER: I
chose the Renown tree to get the Nelson later in life. To which: I hear is the BEST ^^
So... I wish you luck either one you choose!

Repulse isn't that bad by the time your gunners improve. But 13 levels in the same ship -
15 if you want Hood for some reason - was terribly repetitive and boring even by NF standards.

With the QE line you get the KGV in just 7 levels. That breaks up the monotony.
