What you could do, is every patch day, during maintenance, you could copy everyone's
crew over to the test server.

Turn off exp, vet death/gain, expert death/gain (unless you are testing them)

Then, you can pre-release patches there 1 week in advance, people can playtest for free
to see if they are working and if there are bugs. You can then put a poll on the website to
see if everyone likes the patch.

If you want to check the balance by tweaking ships, you can pre-release a patch there,
and I can get members of the Public ONF website to help test (for example, you fix the
H44 shell weight issue).

Job Done.

----------------------

Update after recent changes;

We now have the test forum. Changes can be discussed there.

All that is needed is for one of the old servers (Yamato or Nelson) to be converted to the
test server, and accounts copied with the new Server Account Copy tool they made for
the server merge.

On other thing; A Poll section for the test server forum.

See! This is a better way to improve community rather than your ridiculous philosophical question
which leads to absolutely NO WHERE!

I think this is fantastic!

"But I have a question that was probably already asked but I'm too lazy to check. If

That is indeed a good point.

What I will say, it is IMPOSSIBLE to balance new content straight away. The most
important part is making sure there is nothing overpowered; It is better that new
content is underpowered rather than overpowered.

Why is it impossible? Because to know how to balance a ship, it requires alot of
playtime, experience and crew is a big issue. Sure, you can improve things, but they
may require further tweaking (when we beta tested France, we warned SDE about
the many problems with MN).

The best way to do it would be to put default new nation crews equal to a players
highest level BO on their account. It would require a significant amount of time and
effort, however, new nations are a big issue.

Rare. I actually recommended something Oo

Not bad of an idea. Would reduce the number of bugs from SDE's fail testing attempts.

Recc'd.

And sort of a thread revival.

But I have a question that was probably already asked but I'm too lazy to check. If exp
gain etc is disabled, how would new features that involve new ships etc be tested? If
they can not be accessed, they can't be tested. (This is more towards new nations)

great idea, this is a good way to save SDE time and money. Because when they
come up with things that have bugs, the players can pick them out quicker, and offer
more feed back on the issues. Then when SDE has fixed all the bugs, they can
relase it with little issues, and little need to fix the issues that have been picked out
by regular players.

AN alternative to this is, keep the same idea. BUT have the regular tester's test the
new updates, then after they are fixed, do like you suggest, and let the players test
it on the test server. THEN after all the bugs have been fixed, SDE can release it.
