  • Curiousity about Hackshield and PCs

I hear about Hackshield and how its evil and how everyone is crashing. The problem is I
really don't understand how everyone is having these issues. Especially when the only
issue I ever really had was the SN Sprites not working right. After uninstalling and
downloading the new client everything worked like a charm.

I am going to write every spec of my machines at home, and everything installed in them.
Along with my Circuits I use.

So here is my information, I'm hoping maybe a few people that crash all the time can do
the same?

Internet :

1) COX 100 mbits Download 100 mbits Upload
2) COX 20 mbits Download 4-5 mbits Upload
3) Comcast : 15 mbits Download 3 Upload

Computers :

Desktop - Acer about 4-5 years old (this is off the top of my head sorry!!)
2.2 gighz processor (single core) (AMD)
1 gig ram
250 gig hdd
ATI Radeon 128 meg card

OS : Windows XP 32 bit
Anti Virus : None
Patches : Service Pack 3 + IE 7
Programs installed :
1) ATI Catalyst center
2) Hauppage TV tuner (have a tuner card attached)
3) Oracle Virtual Box (Runs my Linux Box)
4) Navy Field
5) Steam Client
6) Mozilla Firefox

Running Processes on boot time : 35-40

On my 2nd Cox circuit no problems, however the graphics card doesn't seem to like sprites
so it's a graphical lag. I crash once every couple of days. Nothing amazing to report.
Both with and without Hackshield no difference between crashes. No Black Screen bugs, zoom
bug when I alt tab during loading.

Laptop - Acer 4250 about 3 years old
2.2 gighz processor (AMD Turion 64 MK-38 2.2 GHz)
1 gig ram
80 gig hdd
Nvidia nForce 610M (MCP67-MV) = 128 megs, however it's shared ram. Don't ask me!!

Running Processes on boot time : 36

OS: Windows 7 Professional 32bit
Anti-Virus : none
Patches : none
Programs Installed :
1) Navyfield
2) Steam
3) Mozilla Firefox
4) Oracle Virtual box (Back up virtual machine XD)
5) Go ToAssist
6) Open Office

I get the Black Screen more often then my Windows XP desktop, I crash once every couple of
days. I can play for 5-6 hours straight. Zoom bug is rare, Lag on my 2nd Cox circuit is rare.

Laptop ?HP Elite Book 8540w (less then 6 months old)
Intel i7 CPU M620 (dual core hyper threaded to 4) 2.67 gighz
4 gigs ram
300 gig hdd
Nvidia Quadro FX 880M 1 gig ddr3

OS: Windows 7 (32 bit) Professional
Anti-Virus : Symantec End Point Protection 10. Firewall off, and intrusion detection off
Patches : IE 9 RC and stuff before SP1

Running Processes on boot time : 65

Programs Installed :
1) Deep Freeze Enterprise
2) Go ToAssist
3) WD SmartWare (hard drive back up nonsense)
4) VNC
5) Office 2007
6) Help Desk Authority
7) Mozilla Firefox
8) Server Admin Tools
9) Exchange Tools
10) NX Machine Client
11) Heroes of Might and Magic V
12) Putty

I have gotten the black screen once, on the 1rst Cox Circuit 0 lag. No black screen
issues, no HackShield Issues. I actually haven뭪 crashed, but then again I don뭪 play much
on this one. 4 hours straight, works without a hitch. On the Cox and Comcast circuits,
some lag no crashes.

So again, I don뭪 understand how why people have so many problems. Could it be slower
internet? Antivirus conflict? Terribly slow outdated, or even bloated machines? Continuous
alt tabbing and trying to do 489283 things at once?

Any more information I can provide? I mean I뭢 not saying I don뭪 crash, but I can play
for hours on end without issues. Let me know!

Thanks,

computergeek

i7 920 @ 2.67GHz, 12GB RAM, Nvid 9800 GT.

The problem that I have is the game crashes EVERYTIME I click play game. Then it does that
little download thing of 2 files and repeats this whole process for about 3/4 times.

Try running it on Windows Vista and you will understand the pain. Room joining bug about
1 in 5 times. Random clicking off screen crash before end of battle screen bug about 1 in 10.

ATI 6950, 1 x 2gig of DDR2 Ram (My 2nd stick died), Q6600.

No problems since I put Navyfield and Hackshield into compatibility mode. Before I would get crashes.

The only time I get lag is:-

1) Large rooms (2 gig of Ram doesn't cut it post Russian patch; I plan on buying another kit soon).

2) When one of my housemates is downloading.

Neither of those happen often, so I'm not really affected by it.

I'm running on Win XP 32 bits with AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE as well, with 4gb of 1600 mhz
ram and ATI Radeon HD6950 and 30mb connection, however it seems that the hackshield is
causing huge lags. I can freeze up to 15 times during the battle for 5-15 seconds and then
get fast forward, but when doing pings and tracerts I often get no packet losses at all.

"I really don't understand how everyone is having these issues."

Esay answer.. they dont use a 5..6...7 year old system...

They have not much clue about pc stuff but try to run NF it under vista/win7

Im using the last 8 years winxp and dont have probs running NF.

"Terribly slow outdated, or even bloated machines?"

The complete opposite ;)

the only issue i got with HS was only the frist 3/4 days
and i solved it by redownloading and reinstalling
however saying that theres no problem because i have no problem its being selfish

i play this game in an old laptop (Pentium-D 2.1 o_O) and i have no lag issue except
during AA massive spam theres still ppl with pcs with phenomII x6/ core i5 + monster
grapich cards having lag issues because its not a hardware problem

its all about the same old bugged code never fixed and patched over and over again
causing random problems to random players in random patches
it would be nice release their patches in test server 1 week earlier and patch there via
an auto-updater and test if its causing problems to some players

I'm running a quadcore 965BE 4x 3.4hgz
4 gig or ddr 3 ram
6 HDD's of different sizes

Running windows 7 pro 64bit.

steam, spyware doctor with antivirus and a number of other applications installed.

Problems non really other than the typical win 7 freeze ups now and again and have to re-
start the game 3-4 times its usually ok then.

I can speak the same for my old pc I had before xmas that was a AMD with a 2.8ghz
dualcore and 8 gigs of DDR 2 using same op and files as stated above with little problems.

I can only put other peoples problems down to a bloated PC "too much crap installed" causing
conflicts or an outdated pc that just can't cope and finally a really poor ISP.

It can be down to a poor line or the way they route you to NF sometimes they change the
hops which can cause problems.
