how can you have little recruits but lots of experts/vets?

jubdub1	My gunners are lvl 46, and i have about 300 recruits, 9 experts, and 40 vets. i've heard that you can have only like, 50 recruits and have 130+ vets and experts. How do i lower my recruit number without destroying my gunners ability? if i lower my recruits they slip down to -25% ability

Audessy	Don't worry about it until you get a BB5. Trimming crew is only practical when the crew member has already hit the cap. Or if it's a BO, you'll need to trim his recruits because your guidelines will be too long at some point or another. You will never want to trim a repairer, engineer, or planesman as they all have benefits or hard to reach caps.
