new forum as well as bug test so moderators actually are mods on the forum, public can't
see mod forums, etc. If they are coding a forum from scratch then they also have to
make
sure it is spam-proof too.

Writing a forum code from scratch nowadays is just inefficient. Use an existing open
source code that is proven to be secure; Updates will come as flaws are found out by
hundreds of thousands, if not millions of users worldwide. Spam-proof? Email activation,
just like this forum has, and a cap-cha when registering.

Also, they have to make a new theme which is never particularly easy.

I have to agree with vanity here, its often not just as simple as a fresh install of a
PhP forum. Having the exsisting database means they have to work with that, (Personally I
hope they destroy this database after making a new one from it to cleanse all the crap).
If they link it to the payment section, they have to be extra careful with the database
connections. Hell we already know we can inject HTML into posts that allow us to do things
we shouldnt be able to on here.

Making theme like, vanity said can take a while, espically if they dont prioritize their
tasks, (which if they follow SDE history they wont have).

Plus I dont like .asp but as long as they know it thats all that matters :P

IIRC they are making a new web page too, so they have to make the forum integrate
with the page as well as ensure it is secure since the site also has to process
payments (even if it is generally to third party sources like paypal/click & buy/etc.).
Also, a system has to be made for support tickets.

One more thing that comes to mind is rankings. They could probably use the current
script from this website though unless, of course, they are going to try and make it
live rankings or make the ranking system more detailed.


I think the forum + website shouldn't have taken this long though. It's been an extra
two months on what they said it would be. Sure, the server merge delayed things,
but if there are indeed different dev's then there shouldn't have been much of a
reason to delay it by two months...
I think they must have been running behind schedule already.

the korean site has changed a while ago....like yuno said in his last update that
things come out on korea servers before NA....
so my assumption is that it will one day come to NA...
