  • CV crew question

    05. 01. 2011 18:30

Kruis
Thinking about starting up a CV crew soon, and I was wondering what crew is nessesary to
run a plane-only CV (no gunners)

So far I have come up with 1 BO, 4-6 FPs, 2 DBs, but I know I'll have some room left by
the time I get to G1/G2. Should I pick up a Medic to counter crew death, a Seaman to help
with everything, or what ever else I think I need (Engi/Reps)

Thanks in advance.

here you are wrong. Alot of times SS hurt you badly but as flag you need still to move
on.Also gunner slots cant give anything better . You dont need restorers because sooner
or later you will get to the cap. Engines are also useless. As CV you dont need more speed.
Seaman help but 3-4% dont worth the time and money invested.

Sonar is actually usefull. This will make you be not so volnerable to SS. Let's face it.
Only real treat to CV is enemy bombers and SS. Sonar help you alot with avoiding SS.

And most usefull is repair crew. They can turn you back into game and save potential
defeat. Dont tell me you can avoid all bombers that enemy send at you. And if he have
lucky second bombing run then what?

PS
what you do at enemy BB range?Lern to play as CV.(lost game is lost no matter what crew
you have. Here we speak about little things that may be the deference between lost game
and win)

R u joking guys? I don't think repairers or engys or any support crew is useful on cv,
once a huge BB finds u in most cases u have no chance to run. I would recommend either
seamen or gunners (to be the king of skies or defend yourself from little annoying ships
and planes). 4-6 fps is ok, 2 dbs (1tb for smaller ships + subs). I don't know how good
the lvl 120 scout, in theory its just an extremely fast T1 fighter with lot of fuel.

Good CV crew?

Yep, for KM it is not bad CV crew, But use minimum 6 FP (4 and 5 is not enough for
good rotate squads) and I highly recommended for you make at least one Rookie
pilot (Scout) for your CV crew...You need level up him to 120 lvl and then you can
scout with him instead fighter and fighters you can use them to clean the sky from
enemy planes ;-)

Then my proposal for KM CV crew is:
1xBO (with good repaire, restore base)
6xFPs
1xRookie (scaut)
2xDBs
1xSonarman (yep, he work on CV)
2xReps
1xEngies
1-2xGunners (for HH or normal gun)
* it is more than 12 sailors which you need on CV6 but I recommended it because
there is lot of variable situation and some time you need DB, sometime you need be
prepared agains subs as well etc...due to this I prefer level up more sailors then I
exact need to CV6 and have to posibility to change my setup to be prepared for
every situation ;-)

You have to count that some time you will run without bombers because your main
role will be scouting/fighting...
E.g. on my DeGrasse I use this setup for HA/fleet vs all battles (you need 12 sailors
on CV6):

ship slots:
1xBO
1xGunner (with HH on ship)
1xRepairer

support slots:
6xFP
1xRookie (scout)
1xSonarman
1xRepairer

Properly leveled sonarman is much better than one more repairer/engineer because
sonarman give you good repaire (less than repairer but still good), better SD and
mainly - you could see enemy subs around. ;-)

Man read my post, crew for KM is exactly the same as USN. You don't necessarily need
restorers if you can class your gunners late, but for easy leveling, just use restorers instead
of gunners.

5 fighter 3 db is the best for a balanced approach. The magic number for bombers is 3s.

Medics aren't neccesary since they eliminated vet death from flaking and other
planes.

I thought Sonarmen didn't work on anything bigger than a CL/SS?

Also, what about a medic? I thought CVs had horrid crew death? Thinking
1 BO
4-6 FPs
2 DBs
1-2 Reps
1 Medic?

seaman is useless...About 15-20 vets added on your FP make the same work...And it
is more easy to add +20 vets on your FP than level up 1 more sailor who need vets
too... And if you have vet cap on your fighters it is enough for any situation
anyway... If you dont use seaman u have saved spot which could be used more
usefull - another rep, sonarman or HH gunner...

seaman is same useless sailor like restorer...

Seaman can improve a sailor's ability by 2-3% and with two it's upwards of 5%. which only really matter on fps
especially after the introduction of t4.

So with a no gunner setup: 6fps 1-2 seaman 1-2 engies and 2 reps on the ship. Of course you can run 120 scouts or
a sonarman depending on what you want to do.
