  • AutoBalance & How it Works

    05. 11. 2011 18:39

Starluck
Greetings,

If your a room host/master then learn the way the game does the autosplit.....

#1 Auto balance always begins with Alpha then Bravo then Alpha then Bravo, ect.

#2 Each class type is seperated and then balanced according to highest lvl BO

#3 Highest lvl BO goes to Alpha, 2nd highest to Bravo, 3rd highest to Alpha, 4th
highest to bravo and so on.. Alpha always has BO advantage...

What does this mean to room host... It only matters with cvs until further changes
are made with game modes....

if you have 4 cvs.. and 3 of them are higher lvl.. you will always get an unbalanced
cv split...

If you have 5 cvs.. and 3 of them are higher lvl you will always get an unbalanced
split..

If you have 5 cvs.. and 2 of them are lvl 100+ and the rest are lower lvl.. then you
can split and go because the two highest lvl cvs will be the alpha/bravo... lower lvl
cvs have little impact on game...

Apply this rule to anything you want... test it.. its always the same

So you mean sitting in a room with a couple of fleetmates for 30 minutes until you say
**** it and play a quick 2v2 and log off in disgust is a nice alternative Alex?

No, I honestly don't see any flaws in my previous statement. At no point in time did I
say that they were the solution to autobalance. Just a "nice alternative." As long as
they are seen as an alternative and not a solution, normal rooms will never be as
prevalaent or as popular as GB2.

I hope you see the flaws in your statement now alex.

Removed previous statement as it was incorrect. See previous and following posts.

*sigh*
AW = All Welcome

It's usually a fleet asking anyone that wants a fight to come brawl with them so they can work on battle techniques
and communication, as well as linefighting skills.

@V2:

Q: When is the last time you had a capped ff/dd/cl/ca room on kaiser server, or even
uncapped?
A: I have seen a few DD/CL rooms or FF/DD rooms. They don't happen frequently,
but I can only assume that's more a result of the blitz level players both not knowing
how to host a normal room and the inability to select the Hobbit War map type
(which they favor).

Q: When is the last time an AW ran, and if you have had AWs recently how many
were run in a row?

A: I'm not sure why you mean by this...AW as in armor whore? Doesn't seem to fit,
so I'll await clarification before I answer.

Q: Do you have BB rooms constantly running on Kaiser server?

A: No. It's unfortunate as you can earn far more xp in BB rooms. The issue we run
into is that players both don't stick around for very long to let the room fill and don't
return to the rooms after more than 2-3 games. This is probably a result of the
increased difficulty and skill level in BB rooms. No shared XP cushion to fall back on
turns a lot of players off (I don't include myself in this group, I love my earned XP).

Q: How about CV hunts?

A: We haven't run CV hunts in a long time. I'm not sure why that's relevant though,
I'd rather see CV rooms than CV hunts.

Q: How about tiered BB rooms?

A: See previous answer relating to BB rooms. When we run them, we do have BB1-
5, 1-6 but also run BB1-3/PBB rooms.

Q: Have you ever played CV in a normal room? If so what was the EXP like for you?

A: The XP was pretty bad IIRC...but the credits were insane.

BB rooms are still a viable alternative to GBs and shared XP. It just requires a good
playerbase to get them going. Fleet X vs All rooms are also a lot of fun and get large
amounts of players to join. If you want, you can always cap those rooms at BB5 or
BB4 and change things up so you're earning XP.

Ok Alex fair enough. Now answer some questions for me.

When is the last time you had a capped ff/dd/cl/ca room on kaiser server, or even
uncapped?

When is the last time an AW ran, and if you have had AWs recently how many were run in a row?

Do you have BB rooms constantly running on Kaiser server?

How about CV Hunts?

Tiered BB rooms?

Have you ever played CV in a normal room? If so what was the EXP like for you?

The fact of the matter is, SDE dosnt want us to play normal rooms.

Normal rooms are always a nice alternative to the auto stack.

"What about games that split 5cv vs 3cvs or 3cv vs 1cv. The split is more complicated than
first look."

Its when the host starts with greatly imbalanced CVs. Its not always the worst thing to be
on the side with less CVs.

"I think I have seen a blitz split 1bb 0cv on alpha and 2cv no bb on bravo but I may be
making that up."

Blitz splits are crazy sometimes. Making it worse is the fact that Oyo/Mog CV are now
CL/CA. Ever see games where its a mog cv, an oyo, and as CV 2 and all 3 end up on the same
side?

Anyway all of these problems are why the GMs were stupid for taking away manual balance. I
understand game mechanics would not allow for GB2 to be manually balanced but GB1 and
blitz should still have it.
