  • Win 7, NF and stuck screen starting the program

Hello.

I recently upgraded all my systems to Win7 Pro. They were XP Pro and Vista Premium
previously and all of them ran NF. Since I upgraded none of the systems will run
correctly. All of them get to the point where the picture of the burning carrier is
displayed and the 'Loading' circle icon moves on the bottom. When I look at Task Manager,
it is the only instance of NF and the status is running. I can leave the system on the
screen for hours and nothing changes. After hours of sitting on the burning carrier, Task
Manager still displays the status as running but the screen never advances.

1. I did uninstall the program, delete all files and reinstalled it in the Programs (x86)
folder.
2. Manually patched the program and the ENFUNS and manually updated HackShield.
3. Compatibility mode not checked. (I have tried several modes and nothing changes.)
4. Disabled the desktop composition and the visual themes.
5. Set to run as Administrator and have even tried logging in on the local Administrator
account and get the same results.
5. Checked all the executable files in the SD Enternet folder to ensure they all have the
above settings.
6. NF icon set to run Maximized.
7. All executables in SD Enternet folder are entered into DEP.
8. Tried three different ISP providers at different locations with no change in results.

Is there a maximum Visual Display that can be used? Anybody see anything that I am missing?

This is very frustrating in the fact I can't get any of the Win 7 systems to work but they
used to with the old operating systems so I know it isn't a hardware problem. A Vista
laptop system was used to test my home network and NF loaded and ran without an issue so
nothing changed on that side either.

Help please?

It doesn't give any message and it doesn't produce any reports. It just doesn't move
beyond the burning carrier with the loading icon. Task Manager always says it is running.

I let it run overnight, 7+ hours. It never moved from the burning carrier with the
loading icon spinning and Task Manager still said it was running. It doesn't give an
error, crash, generate an error report or have any failure beyond just not progressing
past the burning carrier page.

It is very frustrating.

This is a laptop that is less than six months old according to the manufacture date
embossed on the case. It came loaded with Vista Business but I used the factory install
disks to install the Win7 Pro image.

From the previous suggestions given on this thread. I tried uninstalling and registry
edited all references to Navy Field and SD EnterNET. Rebooted. Reinstalled. Patched.
Rebooted. Made all the settings changes listed above. Rebooted. Still fails.

I have read a majority if not all the threads regarding crashes and issues posted in the
last six months. I believe I have tried all the fixes. That is the reason I listed all
the things I have done to fix this problem. Maybe I missed one. At this point, I don't
know why I am still having this problem with the game...:(

Specs: (From CPU ID program)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2820QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
RAM: 2x DDR3 4096 MBytes. (8Gb total)
Display Adapter: Intel HD Graphics 3000 (GT2+)
Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 7 (6.1) Service Pack 1 (Build 7601)
DirectX Version: 11.0
Hard drive: 500Gb. 300Gb free.

Checking Task Manager there is only 1 process of Navy Field running in both Applications
and Processes. In Processes it is using just 1% of the CPU time and size is 440,980K.
This is with the screen sitting on the burning carrier and the Loading icon spinning. It
has been on this screen for almost 25 minutes now.

I checked the video drivers both manually and with the help wizard. They are up to date
according to Microsoft Update and the laptop's Drivers and Software webpage.

I have also made sure that all the executable programs are set in the firewall as full access.

Thank you for the responses.

Alzheimers how do you run Navyfield in compatibility mode? Hackshield gives an error
whenever navyfield.exe is run in compatibility mode. DSMerchant post your system specs,
make sure you updated your GFX drivers after installing a new OS.

I have built a couple boxes running on WIN 7 PRO have experienced issues that are similar.

First suggestion is have you checked the forums for any other people with similar issues? I
can generally find a solution in a previous post.

A few ideas if your feeling profecient:

I would be to make sure the key in the registry for NF has been removed. ( WARNING:Only
do this if you understand you can mess your pc up and you are skilled enough understand
the windows registry.) I have had instances of installation issues because of a corrupted key
that remains after you remove the program.

One other item I have found is when NF crashed I will start the task manager and it will be
gone out of the applications but if you look closely under the processes there will be one that
is associated with NF that is still running.

I ran NF in compatibility mode for XP and that has helped.
