There is a really easy way to do this if u want a cv off of the northampton line. If you want cv, go brook path and train a second BO on a spare slot for the other line, while on the brook line, keep training pilots for your cv. Then, once you are high enough on the brook line, you should have a few pilots and you second BO will be about high enough that you can go the second route, with plenty of pilots already trained, and gunners from the brook route that by now will be able to give you blockshots on NH and NO or Port. Its much better than starting with the Northhampton route THEN going brook because this way, youll have more time to train pilots for cv.

Simple if you want to go CV then NH is for you. No other way to CV line.

Brook line -

Advantage's

You can afford it alot sooner than NH
Easy to use.
Lots of guns, so lot more immposing when fighting.
Line in general is cheaper.

Bad -

Can be considered underpowered compared to NH 3x8"
Crappy Battlecruisers/Battleships compared to Northampton line.
Next ship cost have nice gap between what your own ship cost.


Northampton

Advantage -

3x8" can deal out alot of damage fairly accuratly to
Armor whore, you can pack alot of armor on the NH line.
CA Status sooner.
Next ship cost only about 40k more creds.
Can choose CV line
Gets the better Battleship line.

Bad -

NH itself is a flaoting block of steel, so expect to get shot up alot
Very high initial cost (took me to lvl 45 to afford my NH)
Not as many gun mounts as Brook line.

Nh for Cv route or you enjoy punishment. I can't think of any other reason for picking NH
