  • Need Alaska-Guam strategies

This grinding in my Guam to the Colorado is getting really tough. I read Lord Kelvin's USN BB guide and tried
out ninjaing for myself. It hasn't really worked because 1. I get blasted whenever I try to be "ninja", 2.
Whenever I do stay behind the front lines, I usually can't sink anything except Subs (rarely) and I do t get
much exp.

Is there specific way of how you operate the Guam?

Thanks,
Mchen

Capped rooms wont work anymore since most players that enjoy normal rooms already have
high level crews. Honestly though uncapped CA/BB1 rooms are loads of fun. I leveled both of
my US lines in CA/BB1s with no caps and I did just fine.

Thehelmsman: How many years ago did you do that? Level capped rooms won't fill on NY (er,
Bismark). Ones capped by ship type (eg: the moderately popular BB1-3, PBB allowed) can,
but one needs to be prepared to wait 30+ minutes.

Helms ill try that out but i dunno how many other people are willing to join those kinds
of rooms instead of the gb's and i dont really have money right now to go get myself a seva

Thanks again to all for your advice

Capped normal rooms.

I'm serious. Worked for me. Yes, it takes longer, but it's MUCH more fun than getting
pwned every battle and having to beg for scraps, and you'll learn how to play your ship.

I did probably 75% of the levels from Guam to Colorado in CA/BB1 rooms, so don't try to
tell me it can't be done.

The Pensa is no POS. Trade in your Guam for a Pensacola, and play it in a similar way.
AA and hit anything close to the ship you are escorting. Plus a good enough Pensa can
take on an Alaska or a Guam down. It has many advantages, other than not taking a
BB slot, u have much more mobility because of its small size, which in turn doesn't make
you a BBs main target. In short, buying the Pensa is the easy way out. As for the
Alaska, Guam....well LKs strategy is the only one anybody will recommend you.

To be blunt, the Pensa is a rather POS; the Alaska is better than it in just about every
way, and the Guam is even better. Sure, there's the glass jaw issue, but at that level
it'll be a problem no matter what ship you drive, and then the Alaska and Guam carry
better firepower and AA. The P-cola's only true advantage is that it doesn't take up a BB
slot, which is also a disadvantage since you don't get the pressure to perform better,
which is a valuable learning tool.

just do it the easy way. thats what most people seem to want now at any rate ( no
offence ment to the OP )

Balti/pensa untill you hit the seva, then seva untill you hit BB3/BB4

"12"L on Guam give you 6 binds......

14"Ls give you I believe 1 Bind on the guam. "

12"L is only 4 binds which I found to be plenty in CA/BB1 games. I have no idea how many
binds the 14"L duals give you but its not worth giving up 3 guns for.

The main strength of the Guam is its speed. If you learn to use that in combination with
your extremely skinny hitbox you can easily rush a blind BB no matter the tier and rain
down 12" shells. The secret to Guam is exploiting your skinny profile and dodging. With
decent gunners you should be able to land all your shells on a your target.

here is my first question:

are you looking for exp or are you looking for "fun" and shooting other ships? Also what
type of crew are you playing with (high level/low level?)

If you are looking for exp, put on AA, take off your back guns, put the lightest main guns
you can put on (must be the 12' guns or else you can't join blitz) in the first two slots
with minimal ammo for shooting the dd/sub that gets through the lines and AA. Net
yourself about 2k-7k credits of planes shot down and you will get pretty good exp than
trying to "have fun" and shoot other ships and getting sunk especially if you do not have
a high level crew. Rinse and repeat and you will more than likely get better exp on
average and as an outcome thus shortening your grind.

If you are looking for "fun" and shooting other ships, well... put on the 12' guns and
well.. good luck. unless you have a pretty high level crew to let you run around with
impunity.
