UmbralRaptor
Nice, but I still think that the Yubari should carry dual 5.5 L over dual 6 N/D. (And
since the dual 6 L can only fit with 2 binds...) =)

Nitpicking the CA FCS entry:
"T 8N FCS(9500) Limit(42582), Accuracy(520)"
Uh, should that be T 6.1? Because if there's a set of dual 8s with a +25 accuracy
revision, they're going to block...

Anyway, it's good to know that the Kongo's 12.2" guns have a +4 revision, and the 14" ones
have a +3. Also, the +0 on the B65's isn't too surprising. AFAIK, all PBB guns are like
that.

edit: For the places where you have viable gunset choices, typical per-shell (or per
salvo) damage at max range for each option would be a good addition.

5. CVE, values, AA guns, tips, links to screenshots, old stuff, etc.

CVE Oyodo!

So u want to put guns on the oyodo? Well, my suggestion would be to use the trip
6.1"N or D as the accuracy value for the L guns makes it unable to blockshot. with
the BB34AA patch, the trip 6" A is also useable, but not recommended for oyodo,
reason below.

For T slots, if u want to use AA (I would rather use torps, but this is not a torp
guide), u should be using the dual 4.7" though u have an option between the 4.7"
5" 3.9" and the 3"AA... the problem with the oyodo뭩 AA is that it has only 2 slots per
side, and most of the time u should be microing your fighters and not AAing...

---
CVE Mogami

The guns for the CV Mogami should also be the 6.1"N or D, as if u ever use them, it
should be agenst a CL or smaller... if your agenst anything bigger, whine to your BBs
and tell them they suck for letting a CL/CA/BB to get to u. (trip 6" A guns not
suggest for the same reason as in the oyodo section)

For AA, its up to u to use either the 4.7" 5"or 3" as u have less T slot space then the
Oyodo, and for information, read the oyodo section.

---
CVE Ise

as i dont own a Ise, i've asked some people with Ise CVs.

Gunsets:
14"/ 45 Type 43A N (if u plan of using the Ise in anything more then CV and self
protection)(note, u cant fit a useful amount of ammo with the L variant)

or
16.1"/ 45 Type 3 D (if u plan on playing the Ise like a CV and be more self defensive)

for AA, i'd actually recommend torps as the Ise is a better TW then the kita, but i'm
not that familar with IJN torps yet, so i'm going to leave that to the Ise CV
experts.but for AA, use the 4.7"s.

and somthing to consider, the Ise takes up a CV slot is balenced a little by
fighter/bomber level, so remenber that. (also, as a CV, u should be micro-ing
fighters, so u should almsot never use your guns, though some ise CVs like to Torp
wall first then give FC.)

---
APA (name is not important. It's an APA.)

with limited gun space, and being rather weak, i'd put reps on the R slots, but if u
insist on puting guns, put AA guns.
the 4.7"s if you're trying to escort BBs, 5"s if you're more alone, and 3" for fun.

and if you really want to put actual guns on it, put the singe 7.9" N's on.

====
IJN AA guns.

As IJN, one of the biggest advantages is your AA, the most comonly used AA guns is
the dual 4.7", they have the second most AA range in game, good reload, and it's
what makes IJN shine.
also with the 4.7" duals, the buffed 6.1" trip A is almost identical to the 4.7" in AA
range, though they have twice the reload of the 4.7" which is made up by the extra
barrel and double the AA damage.

other sets include the 5" dual, which is more spam>AA range,
the 4.7" singles, longest AA range in game, but being singles, it's a little hard to hit
things..
3.9" duals, like the 5" duals, spam-ablity>AA range
the 3" duals, SPAM SPAM SPAM>AA range, compariable to the pompoms in terms of
AA range, spamablity comparriable to the KM 3.46"

old stuff.

old nagato guns screenshot, furthest is the 16" L(same as today), then comes the
14L(same as today) beside the 16" second set L (old)

http://i42.tinypic.com/33dikgk.jpg

old dual 18" (18.1"/ 45 Type 5)

With 30 degree max angle, it seemed like that this would make the yamato into a
uber repulse, but no, the range of these guns are CA range. Also, at 30 degree with
the trip 18.1봲 is the same as the max angle of this set. These make the dual 18봲
completely useless(even the first set of dual 16"Ls are better).

at 30 degrees, trip 18"L, trip 19"N, dual 18" 2nd set L (at max angle, there's a
screenshot in the super yamato section)

Tips:

for a good IJN BB guide, read Boom's BB guide, that'll cover all the mainstream BBs
for IJN
also, try and read all the stickeys in the tips and tatics section of NF forums, it'll help
u alot eg, fromage's blind fighting and shell doging guide is a good read and will help
alot.
classing IJN AA gunners on time is a very bad choice as there is a reload ablity
growth deduction, so i suggest classing IJN AA gunners at lv 63+, best with lots of
BVE at around 80, and with less BVE, lv 90ish.

thank you for reading,

4. BB

Kongo

Woot, be happy u got your kongo!

The kongo is one of the best balanced BB1s, with a ok speed, ok firepower, low
range (which is normal for BB1s) and food (which is normal for BB1s too)

For blitz:

12.2"/ 50 Type 98 D
or
12.2"/ 50 Type 98 L (for reasons, refer to the asama part.)

AA:
refer to asama part

for GB:

12.2"/ 50 Type 98 L (Must, unless u got better gunners)

14"/ 45 Type 43A (when u have better gunners, and use the normal version as the
Ls u don뭪 have enough ammo)
(screenshots below)

AA: also refer to the asama

---
The Mikasa

0.o so u got a Mikasa somehow?

Gunsets:
Dual 12"/ 40 Type 41 (any other gun is a no-no, 14" L range)

for AA:
single 4.7"/45 Type 10 A (NOTHING else. Not even the 5"single.)

the Mikasa is almost played like the Dhonburi, just now u have to weave alot to
dodge incoming shells.

i actually have a detailed guide on the mikasa, at:

http://tinyurl.com/kszprw

---
The Fuso/Ise

As both these are very similar, they use the same guns.

Gunsets:
Dual 14"/ 45 Type 43A L (normal guns, use these when u need more
range>damage, eg HA, BB123 room, etc)

Dual 16.1"/ 45 Type 3 D (damage>range guns, use in GB.)

pic below is the 14"L (furthest), 16"D (middle) and 12.2" L (to the side)

no point in using the AA on fuso, as the 4 turrets are spaced horribly

on the ise, the dual 4.7"s.

---
The B65

welcome to teh crap PBB.

since u've spent the $7 for it, here it is.

for the main guns, i find the only useable 2 guns sets are the trip 12.2" guns that
come with the B65 and the other set is the dual 16" Ds, as once u blind the enemy,
u can rush and do quite a bit of damage suprisingly. For AA, use the 4.7"s, the 4.7"s
are what makes the B65 better then the UK PBB
(though i do not recommend you to use the dual 16"Ds, unless you have good
engies)

screenshot for the PBB 12.2"s range

in range order, it goes from 12.2" trip, 14" L, dual 12.2" L (kongo set)

---
The Nagato

Gunsets:

Dual 16.1"/ 45 Type 3 L (the only useable guns still, even after the BB34AAA patch)
(more damage, longer reload then the second set, better spread)

Dual 16.1"/ 45 Type 90 L (still crap, about the same range as first set, weigh the
same, less damage, faster reload, worse spread)

top=first set, bottom=second set

no point in using AA on nagato.

---
The Yamato

The fun begins!

Gunsets:

Trip 18.1"/ 45 Type 94 L (ONLY choice, well, the normals have less range then the
nagato........so migh as well back in the nagato eh?)

screenshot of: 18" N, 18"L, 16"L

for AA:

Dual 4.7"/45 Type 10 A (the 5"is useable, but its no good.)
mixed with the trip 6.1" A in the front and back, as they were adjusted during the
BB34 AA patch

though some people like all the turrets being 4.7"s.

Also, it뭩 a good idea to use the front-est AA slot and the back-est as if u have NF
fixer with battle-mode on, u can get all of your 4 sets of guns (front, middle front 3,
middle back 3, back) to offset and rapid fire.

screenshot of yamato range compared to SY range below.

---
The Super Yamato

By now I shouldn뭪 have to tell u what guns u need, but here goes.

with the most gun space after the Amagi, u can now mount the trip 18.9"(I뭠l refer
these to the 19"as they are .1 inch lower then 19" (trip 18.9"/ 45 Type 5)

These guns outranges all BB4s, and the monty, as some tests not done by me have
shown, that the SY/L2/H44 all have about the same range because of spread and
ship sizes (though I think the H44 outranges the SY by a pixel or so)

At level 110, the dual 20"(20.1"/ 45 Type 98A) becomes available, these guns are
different then the 18.9", with a better spread, actually the same damage per
broadside as the 19" trips, and they weigh more. range is about the same. these
guns are definetly useable, but not suggested, as if you miss, the trip 18.9"s have a
little more spread and might hit somthing the 20" guns will miss.

screenshots of: 18"L, 19"N, old dual 18" second set L (which was removed)

screenshot of: from left to right, 20" dual, 19" trip

For AA:

See yamato section.

---
The Amagi.

If u still rely on this guide for Amagi, I think u need to stop playing and get some
education. But heck, here it is.

Gunset: 20.5"/ 45 Type 98B

Haha, don뭪 we all wish we could change these to the trip 19"

so statics, these have a huge hangtime :( , in total the 10x 20" shells does less
damage then the monty's 12x 16" shells, and have the 3rd best range in the BB6s.
(dont worry, they outrange the H44 :)

For AA:

Use the dual 4.7", like every ship u've ever used.

Though, it is possible to now use the trip 6.1"for AA! Its not the smartest choice as
you can only fit 4 binds of ammo, but heck, you뭨e in a Amagi, u should know what뭩
good for u.

3. CL-CA

(note, when i dont have a NLD for a set of guns, u are free to use which ever one u
prefer)

---
The yubari: lv 23.

your first CL, this CL is really a big DD, though i liked it since it had more support
slots then any other IJN DD

Gunsets:
Dual 3.9"/65 Type 98 L (almost exactly the same as the 5" duals, but faster
realading, less range, more AA damagE(83for 3.9", 79 for 5"))
Dual 5"/ 50 Type 3C L (the range is horrible compared to the dual 5.5L and 6"N(more
then the 3.9"s though), but more AA range, about 20-30 more damage per shell
then the 3.9"s)

Dual 5.5"/ 50 Type 3 L (very good range for their level, should be used over the 6")
Dual 6"/ 50 Type 41 N (the dual 6"hits harder then the 5.5 by about 30-40 more
damage per shell, but less range then the 5.5")

from least range to most: 5" L, 6" N, 5.5" L

from left to right: 3.9" L, 5" L

same as above, AA range at 35 degree(golden angle).

---
The Agano

your second CL (unless u went kuma line), this CL is a full CL, use your range agenst
DDs so that u take only minor damage when u can easyly sink a DD.

Gun sets:
Trip 6.1"/ 60 Type 3 N(the guns u뭗 want to use, as your spread wont be any good
with the 7.9봲)(also note, the trip 6" N's(and D) acc value is set to 25, so these 2
guns are the only IJN guns that can truely blockshot)(and, the L guns dont hold
enough ammo to be effective)

Dual 7.9"/ 50 Type 3B D (useable, but in my opinion, your spread is going to be so
bad, its better to use the trip 6")

Dual 7.9"/ 50 Type 3C D (1 less bind of ammo then the dual 7.9 3B, little more range,
little more damage)

for those who are wondering what has more damage per salvo, the trip 6"s per
shell damage is about 220, the per shell damage of the 3B is about 540-550, and
the 3C are about 580 damage pershell...and those turn into: about 2000 per salvo
for the trip 6", 4350 for dual 7.9 3B, 4650 for dual 7.9 3C..but u have to take into
account you're spread, the reload time, etc.

from least to most range: 7.9 3B, trip 6" N(look at that blockshot!, dont worry it'll be
late lv 60s before it actually gets that good)and the dual 7.9" 3C

---
The Mogami CL.

The IJN version of the Brooklyn CL, in some people's eyes its superior to the
brooklyn, in some they arnt, but the mogami is a DD killer in my opinion, and should
use the trip 6" instead of the dual 7.9", though many people will argue with me
here, so its up to u which role you want to play.

also, once you're a higher level, another gun set that becomes available is the trip
6" A, which has been modifyed by the ONF BB34AA patch and makes the mogami a
very good AA ship.

Gunsets:

Trip 6.1"/ 60 Type 3 (with these guns, you are the DD killer, in that area, you are
only rivaled by the USN Brooklyn. Though, with these guns, you are rather low
ranged, and you are in danger from some other CLs and CAs). Also, AAing with
these are quite nice)

Dual 7.9"/ 50 Type 3B N(now with better spread, these are useable, but the second
set of duals are better)

Dual 7.9"/ 50 Type 3C D(tiny bit more range then the 7.9"/ 50 Type 3B, about 20-30
more damage per shell)

Dual 8"/ 50 Type 3E D (tiny bit more range then the 7.9"/ 50 Type 3C, roughly 60
more damager per shell)

Trip 6.1"/ 60 Type 3 A (weighing 15% of the trip 6" Ls(75tons), 3 second reload, 2nd
highest AA damage per shell(the USN dual 6" A beats these by AA damage, but is
rarely used), and the current dual 4.7" AA range, these guns make the mogami at
higher levels a deadly AA ship, rivaling even KM AA ships)

range:as u see, the 3 sets of duals all have almost the exact same range(if u insist,
from left to right, 7.9" 3B N, 7.9 3C D, 8" 3E D), the difference is tiny, with some
spread, they are almost unnoticible, the back 2 turrets are trip 6 N.

AA range will be in the last section.

---
The PCL Dhonburi

for $3, its not really worth it, at level, u get 2 turrets with the spread of crap, and
the same support slots as normal Cls...so its only good when you're high level and
board and want to have some fun in a annoying little bugger.

Gunsets:
Trip 6.1"/ 60 Type 3 (these guns are useable agenst some CLs and DDs. Don뭪 try
AAing with these with the PCL, as you only have 2 turrets, its not worth it.)

Any set of dual 8",7.9"should be better then the trip 6" but they also have worse
spread.

====
As u뭭e finally reached you뭨e CA, a new boring life of grinding begins.

---
The Myoko CA.

This CA can be played like the CL mogami with trip 6"or with dual 8"s

Gunsets:
Trip 6.1"/ 60 Type 3 (see description above in mogami CL area)

7.9"/ 50 Type 3C L (the guns with the second most range for myoko, better in range
then the 8"N (8"/ 50 Type 3E), more description below the 8" section)

screenshot of the 7.9 second set L with first Set 8" N

Dual 8"/ 50 Type 3E L with these guns, u can only fit 3 binds of ammo, so if u want
to play range, use the second set dual 7.9" Ls..(though, the 8" N does about 100
more damage per shell then the 7.9" second set)

screenshot of 8" N and 8" L

with the 8"/7.9" guns, you are a full CA, u can take out CL and CA with easy with
your range, and if u can catch a BB1/2 off guard (or a crippled BB345), that뭩 a
bonus.)

---
The Mogami CA.

With 151 gun space, u can now mount all the dual 8"s with lots of space.

screenshot for the range difference between the send set L and N

The gunsets are basically the same as the myoko, but now u can mount the 8"/ 50
Type 3F N with a good amount of ammo.

but if u want the extra range with the Ls, be careful with your ammo, and try not to
shoot DDs unless they get too close for confort.

---
The PCA Asama

Well, as u뭭e decided to spend your money and time to IJN eh?

Here it is:

For Blitz:
Either use the 12.2"/ 50 Type 98 D or the 12.2"/ 50 Type 98 L.
Use the Ds if you뭨e finding yourself getting rushed by DDs and CLs a lot, and use
the Ls if you find yourself killing CLs, CAs and BBs more then DDs. On the side note,
u should NOT play your PCA as a normal CA, try to play it like a BB.)

for AA:
u could try and mount the dual 3봲 for the fun of rapid shelling a DD that gets too
close or etc, but for blitz, in my opinion, the dual 5"/ 40 Type 89 A works best for
blitz as u can both spam and have good AA range

For GB:
Depending on what u want, u could do a lot, u could use the dual 12.2"/ 50 Type 98
D for speed and rapid fire, or u could use the dual 14"/ 45 Type 43A (N) for ranging.
(I recommend the 14"set)

For AA, use the dual 4.7"/ 45 Type 10 A or dual 5"/ 40 Type 89 A,(and if u have the
gunners to spam for fun, the 3"/60 Type 98 A.)

Preclude!

If you're new to the game, then a MUST read is www.nf-guides.com as most of
terms i'm going to use is covered in that.

also, u need to read http://tinyurl.com/38xwh7 (Adalbert's guides on ability) as i'll
use many terms from that too. (and maybe make u addicted to the game's
complexity.)

Always use the L varient of any gun as u always want more range. well..Unless
theres not enough space to mount ammo, or
you're doing AA or i've noted it in the rest of the guide....or ur playing for fun.

and

please use LHE, becuase u always need more range, LHE has most range, though it
has less damage (though i use NHE once in a while when i really think there needs
to be more damage output>range)

All tests screenshots are done with my lv 105 bve elite gunners which hit the acc cap
many levels ago(and some tests are done with my now lv 110 gunners).
If you're wondering about the acc cap, the best way to check is with debugviewer
from this post: http://tinyurl.com/ceexkp (FCS's/Gunner's accuracy and its cap)and
the easyer link would be http://tinyurl.com/ypgdby .

One the screenshots, they are only for range comparison, as some of those are
made with different FCS then the ship that would have those guns mounted's FCS.

I'm not including DDs as i don't have any experence with them when i had them, and
now u just level so fast that u can almost use any gun u want..

also, I뭢 not going to include the TW CLs as u cant fit any useful guns on those, and
if u are trying to use guns on those, any set of duals or singles should work.

for gun sets, i use NLD, N for normal guns, L for the L varient of the guns, and D for
the D variant.(i also use A for AA guns that are for AA gunners)
i use first set and second set instead of the gun's actual name as it is alot easyer to
get used to and know which is which, and when i say first set/second set, it always
comes in order of www.trainworld.us 's IJN gun list and also the acutal gun list for in-
game NF, though i will use the actual gun set name once in a while for clearity.

at first i try as hard as i can to get to the point, but later on i'll be describing the
actual ship a bit more.

becuase of the ONF BB34 AA patch, i'm going to move my A gun section (the NLD AA
section stays unchanged), to section #5.
