  • Yuno's May Update

    05. 06. 2011 14:18

Dear Fans of Navy Field,

It has been some time since my last update was posted. I hope you are all doing very well.
I have few things to update today so please read through them carefully.

1. New Navy Field Website
This new site is completed as of this moment and is currently being tested by GMs and TNF
members. There are just a few things needing to be fixed before we launch it. The reason
why it takes so long is because the new site is completely made from scratch. It has a new
item system, new design, new coding, etc.; everything is new. Therefore, when the new site
is out, you will have to fill out your information again as the only detail you will have
from this current one is your account name. We will give you more detailed information
concerning this before launching the site. It will take just another few weeks. We are
aiming to release at the end of May. Thank you very much for your patience. However, I bet
you will like the new site and believe it's worth the wait.

2. Upcoming Events
We are about to hold the biggest NF event in NF history for showing our appreciation to NF
players. It's also part of the NF 5th Anniversary and will be hosted alongside Xfire.
There will be many ways to enjoy event and we뭭e prepared some great prizes such as iPad
2s and high-end graphics cards. The event will be held during the end of June or beginning
of July. Detailed information will be coming soon, so this is just a heads up.

3. New NF Project "Monster vs National Fleet"
Are you familiar with this ship? This is new monster ship that we are currently working
on. This ship is not for players (sorry), but this will be used for entertaining you. It
will be used for special Fleet vs Monster ship or National Defense vs Monster ship Events.
Your fleet will need to register for the events and when your fleet defeats the ship
prizes will be awarded. The ship is graphically complete and will be coming this summer.

4. Other things currently under development
New submarines are graphically complete and will be launching this summer as well. Also, a
new "Harbor Assault" game mode is currently undergoing the design process and we are
aiming to finish it by this winter. We are making a completely new game mode which is
different from the current HA for more entertainment. We have also been working on NF
client stability enhancements so it runs more smoothly on some laptops and low spec PCs.

That wraps up my information for this update. It may not be the most detailed, but I just
want to give you updates on what we are doing since some of you may have wondered. We will
give you much more details by Newsletter and forum posts soon. I thank you all for your
continued support of Navy Field.

Thank you.

How about spending about six months reverse engineering the code so that you guys know
exactly what every change will do instead of blindly firing patches at the game as it is?

Yuno, please put the stability upgrade on the top of the list. I CAN'T PLAY IN THE EVENTS
IF THE GAME KEEPS CRASHING! I manged to complete just 3 games in 17 attempts today!!!!!

Great, now a sub will be able to kill a bb5 in one salvo. Are they going to increase the
bulge limit too? At 450 bulge I might be able to withstand two salvos.

Do you think there is nothing more important to do ?
What about those lags and useless lvl 110 guns and backward shooting fighters
and so on ... ?
It's sad to see the devs wasting their time on such bullsh!t

"Particularly speed to make them more like stalkers instead of interceptors. "

Absolutely. I'd actually play subs if they acted more realistic.

As for CV's, I think they need more content but not more ships. The gameplay is boring as
all hell. Having a whole bunch of stuff to chose from and things to look forward to is
what helps people stay glued to the game.

In order, these things are what will fix NF the most:

1) Fix the lag, this shouldn't even be on the list - it should be done already.

2) Get rid of socialized XP. Tactics and sanity will return soonafter.

3) Fix various nation bugs and balance issues - We can still have different strengths
and weaknesses, but some of those are downright broken, nonexistent, or simply
mythical.

4) Reduce submarine speed, armor/DP, or firepower. Choose one, really. They're
overpowered right now and any reduction in those will put them in line a bit...
Particularly speed to make them more like stalkers instead of interceptors.

and we are only looseing players because they cant play due to lag and lock ups.. its so
bad its simply unbearable for people. thats why activity is going down the pan.

and it doesnt help that ship classes are not blanaced.

they had an entire year of trying to get cv players playing again but the one thing they
forgot to look at was the actual cv balance.

cv's should all work the same and have the same ability so its all down to skill tactics
and timings. not who has a full bve mn crew or full bve german cv crew... cv's shoudl be
on an eqaul playing field. its just plain stupid to try and make the individual planes
have their own strengths and weaknesses.. this is a game. your not going to get an
accurate facsimily its a tactics simulator not an history simulator.

thisgame will continue to flop until the basics are addressed.

new ships and items wont keep us playing.. the reduction or removal of lag, balanced and
fair ship classes.. thats what we all want!!!!

lol there idea of olde systems are amd 462's with 128mbit of ram. and a 64meg 16 bit video
cardo... voodoo range springs to mind.. i have no doubt navyfield plays like a dream with
specs like that..

this lag and screen locks we are getting is all due to the game running slower than our
pc's so we have to wait for the game to catch up before we can play smoothly for 10 seconds..

im going to have to down grade my pc to play nf i think.. what an obsurde sugestion..

i feel some more voyage century coming on.. that game doesnt lag or freeze.. and its
pirate ships. what more can a ship fan want, other than for navy field to be nice and
stable and not suffer screen locks.. lag i can handle. its the damn screen freezing and
the fact the game locks up completely resulting in a ctrl+del and then having to shut the
game down through the task manager.

under normal circumstances i would probably go down the virus scan route, but this is navy
field na.. and i already know its not a virus lol and is infact the servers and it has
some compatibility issues with some hardware configurations causing conflicts and locks..
the game has a huge memmory leak issues too..

some mice cause the game to progressively have issues the longer you play too, thats what
ive been experienceing. mouse movement causing some lag. but t doesnt start to lag until
ive had a few games, at which point the lag sets in.. 4 games on and the screen starts to
freeze for 20 seconds here and there. and eventually after about an hour or so of gameing
complete lock ups.

and it only happens with navyfield na.

i would like to see them fix current problems rather than creating new problems. im not
bothered about events. im bothered about being able to play in the first place.

and who the hell cares about balance when the game doesnt run for them anyway.

number 1 - fix lag and lock ups for all clients
number 2 - balance ships so they are fair
number 3 - do what you like so long as it doesnt mess the top two up..

i think they are 3 very simple guidelines to follow.

3 laws safe lol.... make sure they are done in that precise order.

oh yea number 4 - yuno to communicate with the community.. we are starting to get the
impression you use google translator and live in korea.

It's all downhill from here on out boys. Get used to it.

We're down to 2 servers now and it appears that we're still losing activity. I can only
hope that something good may come from NF's final death. It will be a slow painful death
I'm sure.
