There has been debate recently concerning the efficacy of 1 v 1 Battles and it was
agreed that definitive guidance was now required. The policy for 1v1 Battles is as
follows:

1. Players can engage in 1 v 1 Battles through their own arrangements and TeamNF
will not intervene unless the rooms are likely to block the creation of other larger
rooms in the main battle area for the particular server. To further define this, if it is
considered possible that the main battle area will become full whilst a 1 v 1 battle is
in progress then the players should not establish a 1 v 1 room. Initially, I (note the
I) intend to set this as at least 4 tiles are requried to be free in order to establish a
1 v 1 room. If that proves inappropriate in practice then I will gladly review it.

2. 1 v 1 rooms are to be conducted in the main battle area or a fleet training area if
the potential for crew kills wishes to be avoided. They are not to be conducted in
any overflow or secondary battle area.

3. If players clearly ignore the above guidance then TeamNF reserves the right to
close down the room either by dismissing the room (even if the battle has
commenced) or by disconnecting the players involved.

4. Wagers. If players wish to place wagers on the outcome of 1 v1 Battles then
they can, but do so entirely at their own risk. SDE/TeamNF will not attempt to
arbitrate the results of 1 v 1 battles, nor will we get involved in disputes about
amounts agreed and/or payment, nor will we attempt to enforce player to player
agreements.

------------------------
Notes:

1. This is a game policy that is the same for both servers.
2. An actual game mode was considered for something like this previously but was
ruled out for various reasons.
3. Any dispute between players on 1 v 1 Battles are to be resolved between the
players concerned and are not to be the subject of flaming/derogatory/whinge
threads or posts on these forums. Any posts or threads considered to be
contravening this direction can be removed without notice or notification to the
person making the post.

I agree it is not very widespread at the moment splid, but there is nothing stopping it
happening more often. If it does then we all know where we stand. If it only happens
occasionally then we still know where we stand on those few occasions.

I think the clarification has been made for my purpose after several chats with vick
xD

I usually spend several hours doing 1v1s a day, and a few times since the merge I
have been kicked from server for an hour for doing so, even tho GMs say it is fine.
Glad the clarification has been made, as somebody already said.. they are clear
rules, what is the problem?

The question is why is it needed though? It isn't like Area 12 or 7 are being held
hostage by serial 1v1ers every day.

I was just wondering where this deabte was and why official rules were needed to
be spelt out. Obviously if people are crying through CS Tickets that people aren't
paying up their losses then that is stupid and should be stamped out, but is this
issue really that big as to have to concrete these rules in force?

We have rules for just about everything in this game, I am just wondering how
many of them are necessary. Perhaps the rule "Don't be an idiot." should be added
for ingame players to follow and then we wouldn't have 99% of the problems?

This is without even getting into the discussion of the effectiveness of the rules in
question...

These rules make sense and are clear. I don't see why there is an issue with this.

Problem with having them in a14/19 is finding opposition :(

I would have preferred just to move them all to 14 and 19, then the rest of the rules
wouldn't be needed at all.

No need for any overflow interference concern or wager arbitration avoision.

Vick thanks for making this clear :)

It is something I felt was needed considering I had Yuno, other GMs and yourself all
say 1v1s is fine, then mods kicking me from server for hosting them.. now I have
somewhere to refer them to :)

I see it more as clarification of policy Splid. Does not really introduce new rules as
such but establishes the foundation for how this can happen in an agreeable
manner and makes the wagers issue clear. I was hoping that would be appreciated
rather than it being seen as trying to make additional restrictions.
