thanks for replying
thats really interesting guidopenguin ill have to try the 2 oclock and the 10 oclock
positions, i always thought that they were bad, thanks.
And the gunner issue i also think that its up to the player but in the early stages it is
more important to raise your pilot lvls up, ill edit that into the guide.

More replys please 490 views and only 15 replies.... and no sticky :D

If your at the point of needing to rely on your SD, then your already in trouble.
I do use aa guns on my DeGrasse (4.7s) and I'm still easily over the 900sd
cap and can maintain a high OH even with 7 pilots onboard.

Use of guns on a CV is up to the individual player. Some can handle the
added distraction of having to use them. Some cannot. The real emphasis on
using guns on a CV is the size and placement of them.

For instance on a DeGrasse, the gun placesments are grouped enough along
the sides to where when firing a full broadside with AA means you have a much
better chance of hitting an aircraft than for instance the very spread out guns
on a Shinano or Zuikaku.

One note from the first post about dive bombing. Approaching the ship from
the stern/rear is not the best. Its the easiest for a player to dodge if he's
paying attention. Approaching from the 2 or 10 oclock position is the best. If
you do manual dive bombing like I do, an approach from head on is best
cause you can use the first gun turrent or the bridge for your marker.

Nice guide, you do seem to have a different approch than I do. In my Degrasse, I always
run 4 fighters, 2db and 2 tb because sending lots of small groups is more effective than
bigger ones and TB do more damage than DB do and if used correctly, can be much more
devistating. If you use your tb and attack an enemy BB from behind them it will force them
to dodge and turn away from the tb into your own BB's range.
Another point is guns. NEVER use guns on a CV. IF something gets within gun range of your
CV and you have to use guns then you have done something wrong or your team has done
something wrong. Hedgehogs are a different point, I can see the usefulness of them but I
never would sacrifice my supports for them. At the end of the day, I would rather have
900SD and 44kt overheat than have less SD and less OH because I sacrificed my supports for
guns.

No i didnt play the Mogami

For the Oyodo, i wouldnt put guns on it because lvling your crew is much more important, and
no torps either cause if a dd is attacking you theirs usually lots of cls and cas that will come to
your aid. Plus dds dont get near you much at all.

Glad my guide helped and im going to edit in the Oyodo gun tips.

Guns an Oyodo only if you have slots to train 2 gunners, simply because otherwise you get
off-set gunners. Consider DP gunner crew for later CV set-ups

thanks am just starting my IJN CV line so this was a real help, couple of things you
havent listed the crew space and splits, which could be a real help and the mogami
re mod is missing, maybe you didnt play it, but a mention would have been nice.

also guns on oyodo or level crew?

other than that a good guide and a help to us just starting on IJN CV's

ya with the t2s i have had a perfect run with 9 and i think i got like 30- 40k, it was
one of my
first runs and i was really surprised.

anyone else, anymore suggestions, how was the guide overall?

How much damage do the IJN T2 DB's do? 9 KM T2's from my GZ2 can do 30K+ on a
perfect attack run, which sadly i don't get much of. I gotta agree with compass about
T1 vs Locals,though i ain't one to take a Oyodo to a GB :p

And LOL @ that pic angus.
