@mikester Whoa, no. Losing 5 experts (PER SAILOR) for each friendly bomber shot down is way too much. Also, if they TK my planes, I can always SS (and TK them myself if they get to extremes, e.g. blaming us for getting our planes TK'd, or consistent TKing).
Personally, I would prefer a CV interface/control overhaul. 1. They need a little switch/toggle that can change planes into Engage/Disengage. It's annoying when you tell your pilots to return, and apparently they decided to kill a scout and then circle while you're doing something else. 2. Auto bombing should NOT show a red target. Does auto aiming show you their guidelines? When in my BB, if the red target didn't show up, I can still tell when planes are targeting me (DBs move forward slightly faster and staggeringly, and TBs dive to sea level.) 3. Fix the CoD. 4. Make planes act as a SQUADRON. I hate how we can't send out 1 bomber to kill a separate, crippled ship, but if enemy fighters pass at a certain distance to yours, only 1 or 2 will being to chase. (When you FP get split up like that, you're screwed 90% of the time). 5. Give an option to turn off auto-return. And make auto return act on a squadron rather than a plane by plane basis (i.e. returning a whole squadron once one of them gets low on fuel instead of 1 by 1 as they reach fuel limits). 6. Give formation options. It's a pain having your TBs/DBs split up right before a bombing run because they are "low on fuel" (which they aren't, stupid locals messing up the fuel system). Just make simple formations, e.g. wall, line, that V formation thingy, etc.
Things I would like to see happen: 1. It would be nice if planes flew closer to their real life speed (in comparison to ships). For example, the Val DB would fly at about 240 MPH whereas the Yamato could only muster a speed of 31 knots. This would mean these planes flew 8 times the speed of the ships. Now, I'm not asking for super-sonic looking planes, just increase their speeds in comparison to ships. 2. TBs and DBs need a buff. They should have MUCH longer range. Continuing with the Val and Yamato example, the Val had a range of about 900 miles (I'm not sure if that is one-way (suicide) or round and back (meaning 450 mile range)). Even so, that would make the Val either 35, or 17.5 (depending on what my info sight meant) times the range of the Yamato's guns (which had a range of about 26 miles). They also need to get a higher damage output, if you're lucky enough to get 12 bombers through the walls of AA and the enemy fighters (this'll be a suicide mission if you do), they should be able to knock out 1 enemy battleship. Considering you'll lose around 4-6 from AA alone, this won't be a problem in most cases in terms of OPed.
Also, something needs to be done about CV bashing in-game and people saying if they want to do damage, to get a BB. (Which I always want to say, "If you want vision, play a CV.") In 7/8 of every game I play in, I see the losing side blame their CVs by at least 1 player at least once. In every 1/20 games I play, I see the winning side/losing side thanking their CVs for their efforts. (I try to thank the CVs, unless they were absolutely horible, in every game I play in.)
