  • Getting CV Drivers back flying again - Discussion

Hi All,

While im feeling all proactive.

Calmly and rationally - What keeps you out of your CV?

How do we get you back in your CV playing again?

Again - Please keep this clear of speculation, insults. Everyone has their right to a
viewpoint or reason, debate it but do so with reason and back it up.

If not or you cant, then leave it

Yes no doubt this has been discussed to death, but is also a major issue in NF today
resulting in games taking too long to load etc. Yes I also know there is the CV wish list
thread.

This is a temporary quick fire solution suggestion thread - Keep it short and concise

Heres a couple for you

1) Crew death
2) Player abuse (bullying and insults)
3) TB's DB's shortened range
4) Locals need resolving (?)

Added (by community)
1) Torp/DB Damage review

BTW, how about an "bomb counter" for bombers?
I can't keep a paper&pen next to keyboard just to record how many bombs/torps i used. :(
And no time for this too. :(

And the "Aircraft in sight" thing?
How about warning the player about planes in HIS sight, not about planes across the map?
Saves a lot of unnecessary scrolling.

Faster take of time, by the time the airplanes take off the battle is already 1/3rd done.
Also making us extremely easy targets try to load planes to kill a CL or up. Its not even
funny how we get pulverized in the hands of even a DD. For us it is humilating

One of the things that bugs me, which others have mentioned already is the AA
batteries...with players having the magic angle to fire at and the annoying problems of
changing altitude over and over again...it gets very tiresome; especially when all your
planes get wiped out from AA and then your team complains about the lack of scouts being up.

I think a simple remedy for this would be to make the AA guns have a chance of missing,
even it's targeted correctly (shoot the shadow, have the right angle), like a sub's
torpedo and perhaps throwing this in as well... not sure if you can implement it or not,
but when bombers are at their
maximum height, they can not be hit by AA fire, but they can be shot down by fighters;
when bombers want to bomb, they flip a switch on their interface...a timing meter
activates and the player must wait 15 seconds before bombing is ready (this represents
getting to the proper altitude or attacking position) at this time, AA's can fire at them.

How did they abuse aircraft stats?
Anyway digression

I don't think you understand, I mean that the cv's should only concentrate on each other,
deliberately engaging each other where they won't scout anything and then when all
fighters are gone from one side, that sides carriers have nothing to do but die.

It would mean bb players would have to scout for themselves and our planes wouldn't become
tk food

*edit* sorry i think i misinterpreted what you were saying

Mikester ,you wroted that in your previous post :

-active stats (air, bomb, ftr)

In facts ,the Fighter and Bomber abilities are ACTIVE! Fighter determines the amount of
damage you DEAL and Bomber determines the damage you can TAKE before get down.

only the Aircraft stats (that was determining the readying speed (was deactivated due to
Abuse) if my infos are right) is Desactivated on the Planes.

and for the Disabling auto-return ,they are not about to do it ,i ask it for 8 months now >.>.

@snail god

Yes it is very extreme, but those are just my numbers, they need to loose a sufficient
amount of creds and experts for tks just so that it's fair due to how many we,
collectively as cv's have lost from tk'd aircraft.

By my experiences they have a long way to go at 5 per sailor per kill but still

Another idea
An all-inclusive CV strike day, say 1 every fortnight or whenever we decide
Basically, we join the games and just put our planes round the edge of the map and fw each
other, leaving the bb's blind and having to fend for themselves and the aaws targetless
apart from the odd scout. infact we should do that anyway, then the cv to loose all their
ftrs first gets bombed
*you can protect your own cvs

Why we do'nt play our CV's? what a fucking good question!

Basically ,in Navyfield ,the Main (and almost only) task of a CV is To scout for those dam
lazy BB's (Even I do Admit at 300% a Scout is NOT made for face/resist a Fighter (even i
powned 3 FT 2 with a single Seagul lvl 120 >.>)) that think they can give Orders bcause
they are big-fat-heavy loaded.

The Main Task of an Aircraft Carrier is to provide Air Cover for his Fleet and to Bomb the
ennemy Fleet (Either torps or Bombs)

Wiki source of the End of the HIJMS Yamato : "Her task force was spotted south of Kyushu
by US submarines and aircraft, and on 7 April she was sunk by American carrier-based
bombers and torpedo bombers with the loss of most of her crew."

Do you see anything that talk about a US/UK or whatever you want Battleship? personnaly ,I
don't even see a PT Boat mentionned except CV's(!!!) and Submarines (!!!)

(Wont get long there but again the game was leeched for permit to the most lazy of us to
have more fun/Attack/exp : Aka spending more money!)

Power-up the Bombs/Torps for CV's and stop putting those AA guns that much accurate.....
an AA-dedicated ship could barely kill 2 Planes on 20 during a 1 hour fight.... there a
Yammy in ONE SINGLE BROADSIDE can took an ENTIRE squad of 9 planes (DB/TB or FT) down
while he's masterbating >.>

That side of the game (CV v CV and CV v BB) really should been re-worked a bit more.

(Sorry for some of the bad words but imo ,they perfectly got their place in that Post ,if
you want i can Edit and censure them)

Ninja Edit! : also ,CV's gain very poor Experience for only killing fighters ,and since
it's almost the only thing "Usefull" we can do for the team ,everyone (or almost ,had one
game with 5 BW/8 >.>) playing FW, can't really drop TB/DB. what about adding a Queue
Gunner for the bombers?

@mikester
Whoa, no. Losing 5 experts (PER SAILOR) for each friendly bomber shot down is way too
much. Also, if they TK my planes, I can always SS (and TK them myself if they get to
extremes, e.g. blaming us for getting our planes TK'd, or consistent TKing).

Personally, I would prefer a CV interface/control overhaul.
1. They need a little switch/toggle that can change planes into Engage/Disengage. It's
annoying when you tell your pilots to return, and apparently they decided to kill a scout
and then circle while you're doing something else.
2. Auto bombing should NOT show a red target. Does auto aiming show you their guidelines?
When in my BB, if the red target didn't show up, I can still tell when planes are
targeting me (DBs move forward slightly faster and staggeringly, and TBs dive to sea level.)
3. Fix the CoD.
4. Make planes act as a SQUADRON. I hate how we can't send out 1 bomber to kill a
separate, crippled ship, but if enemy fighters pass at a certain distance to yours, only 1
or 2 will being to chase. (When you FP get split up like that, you're screwed 90% of the
time).
5. Give an option to turn off auto-return. And make auto return act on a squadron rather
than a plane by plane basis (i.e. returning a whole squadron once one of them gets low on
fuel instead of 1 by 1 as they reach fuel limits).
6. Give formation options. It's a pain having your TBs/DBs split up right before a bombing
run because they are "low on fuel" (which they aren't, stupid locals messing up the fuel
system). Just make simple formations, e.g. wall, line, that V formation thingy, etc.

Things I would like to see happen:
1. It would be nice if planes flew closer to their real life speed (in comparison to ships).
For example, the Val DB would fly at about 240 MPH whereas the Yamato could only muster a
speed of 31 knots. This would mean these planes flew 8 times the speed of the ships. Now,
I'm not asking for super-sonic looking planes, just increase their speeds in comparison to
ships.
2. TBs and DBs need a buff. They should have MUCH longer range. Continuing with the Val
and Yamato example, the Val had a range of about 900 miles (I'm not sure if that is
one-way (suicide) or round and back (meaning 450 mile range)). Even so, that would make
the Val either 35, or 17.5 (depending on what my info sight meant) times the range of the
Yamato's guns (which had a range of about 26 miles). They also need to get a higher damage
output, if you're lucky enough to get 12 bombers through the walls of AA and the enemy
fighters (this'll be a suicide mission if you do), they should be able to knock out 1
enemy battleship. Considering you'll lose around 4-6 from AA alone, this won't be a
problem in most cases in terms of OPed.

Also, something needs to be done about CV bashing in-game and people saying if they want
to do damage, to get a BB. (Which I always want to say, "If you want vision, play a CV.")
In 7/8 of every game I play in, I see the losing side blame their CVs by at least 1 player
at least once. In every 1/20 games I play, I see the winning side/losing side thanking
their CVs for their efforts. (I try to thank the CVs, unless they were absolutely horible,
in every game I play in.)

Give cvs and planes an Aircraft Search Radar.
Their visible sight range stays the same. However, they can see
dots/pings/shadows (whatever may be best) only of planes in the fog of war of a
limited area around each plane. This radar vision will definitely be further than visible
sight range. And add an alert to spotting radared planes.

Tweaks to this idea. This will benefit bombers more IMHO.
1) Scouts wil not have radar since their sight range is pretty large for a plane.
2) Fighters will not have radar since /w it, they will pwn bombers even more and
cause more fw.
3) Fog of war around radar spotted planes will be revealed but only enough to see
the plane, nothing else.
