  • Data Corrupted Issue - March 2011 Update

    03. 07. 2010 08:54

Stormvanger
Our favorite issue is still with us, so long now that I've put a YEAR in the update in the
title. There's still no blanket fix for this issue, the updater still sometimes fails to
update your installation correctly and the result is the "DATA CORRUPTED" issue we've come
to know and loathe. Anyway, with the latest thread update, we've updated some of the
procedures slightly. (I'd say "enjoy", but I know you won't.)

There's no best way to fix it, as each fix depends on your PC's setup. And all our PCs
are at least a little different. But if you are seeing the DATA CORRUPTED message,
the method that has worked more often than not is as follows...

1 - Go into control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall Navyfield.

2 - Use regedit.exe to open your PC's registry. Search for "SD Enternet" and delete
anything it finds. (IF you are not comfortable editing the registry, you can skip this
step. But if it fails to solve your problem, you'll likely have to go back and do it again
and add in this step after all. People have reported success both with and without
this step.)

3 - Navigate to your SD Enternet directory (usually c:\program files\sd enternet) and
delete it and all subdirectories.

4 - reboot. (it's windows, it loves this step. =)

5 - Go to the DOWNLOAD section of this site, the GAME DOWNLOAD subsection and
download and install a fresh copy of navyfield. CNET will take longer but seems
always reliable, while SDE's link is quicker. (Current version is as follows...)

http://sdentglobal.nefficient.com/sdenternet/Download/NF1315.exe

6 - DO NOT START THE GAME AFTER THE INSTALL

7 - Now hit this URL and download the latest manual patch and run it.
http://www.navyfield.com/chkcount/chk_download_05.asp?Code=button_patch

8 - Compatibility Mode is no longer a good idea, since the Hackshield patch. DO NOT use
Compatibility mode.

Steps 5 and 7 combined bypass the updater altogether and install the latest version
of the game. This has worked for quite a few people. PLEASE test it out and let us
know if it worked or not!

IMPORTANT NOTE - some users have reported success by disabling their anti-virus
software during steps 4 and 6, as non-standard or out-dated anti-virus programs
can interfere with software installations.

THE LAST THING TO TRY

If you've followed the above steps and your computer is still trying to deny you your
gaming experience, please open a support ticket on the blue column to your left.
There might be something amiss with your account that only a GM can fix, or your PC
could have a non-standard setup that a tech mod could advise you on.

They DO care, thanks. And the Developers ARE working on it. But the devs are re-writing
a portion of the patch updater to solve this. That's not something they want to release
without testing it.

In the meantime, all the moderators can do is try to help you circumvent the issue or live
with the pain. =(

I've just come back to NF(after encountering this issues several months before) but due to this
corrupt file and over 10-15 failed attempts, it makes me ask
whether or not NF has bothered to improve their services and fixing, since this game was released.

Stormvanger you dare say

"That's not something they want to release
without testing it."

tell us, how did they go about testing this?

Well done NF, me and my mates are pulling out.

This issue is on par with a microsoft-level (%&# up, to think SDE would release an update
that would cause such widespread client failure without proper testing or knowing the
problems it would cause is unbelievable. And what's worse, this problem has been going on
for a while now, and it still hasn't been resolved. Congratulations, ignorance has cost
you another customer.

It was a nice game, hopefully someone will make a similar product that will be available
sometime in the future. I'm done trying to get this to work.

I have become an expert on deleting my NF client, with registry deletes, and yet I still
can not get my NF to work. I have followed literally every peice of advice in this thread
and every other one I can find. Once again I lose out, due to no fault of my own. Why
won't NF fix the probelms with it's updater? It seems like instead of worring about ship
inbalances and game play or new nations that they would first and fore most want to
make sure the most number of people had access to their service? I mean frankly they
are losing money hand over fist and don't seem to be concerned about it. I love this
game, I honestly do, and I don't mean to disrespect anyone at SDENTERNET but I think
there are some serious issues with the way things area dealt with that need to be
addressed.I have been in the business world for over 20 years and never have I seen a
company have such lack of leadership and any type of obvious mission plan. NF has a
unique niche in the online gaming community, it could easily be taken to the next level,
like WoW or any other number of games. But it's lack of focus and blaise attitude toward
the game's basic mechanics means that these issues will plague this game for along time
to come. I have played on one account or another for over 4 years, and I have dealt
with these issues since the begining. Once again I am at the point of being so disgusted
that I will no longer play the game, even though it breaks my heart, I can no longer
spend hours and hours of my time trying in vain to fix NF's problems. They obviously
aren't too concerned with retaining their player community. Perhaps I will wait for
another year or so and see if they have improved any by that time.

Boys try to ask to one of your friends who the game works fine,
ask them to copy the DATA files, Navyfield and ENFUSUPDATER files and sent to you,
download and copy that files on your navy and run.
You can search what files missing, but mos principal files are data and enfusupdater. try
y hope works for you good luck.
