Holder post. If you could not figure out, these are all separate solutions, NOT one giant
solution in steps

Before I move on, I'd just like to clarify something about Hackshield.
There are MANY other games that use HackShield (Maplestory, Combat Arms, War Rock to
name a few). Also, a different anti-cheat software called Punkbuster is much more intrusive
than Hackshield. In the case of Punkbuster (which is HackShield x2), many more games such
as the Battlefield series, Call of Duty series, Need for Speed, F.E.A.R., Medal of Honor
and many more use it. Hell, even the US Army uses Punkbuster in its full glory for
America's Army 2 and 3. Hackshield is a legitimate anti-cheat program that has been around
for a while and has been trusted by literally HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of players across the
gaming world. It will not steal your personal info, nor release it.

Here's a list of known HS problems and fixes:

Turn off your firewalls. Also make sure none of the files are blocked by your virus
control system.
If you have Norton security, you can tell if they are block by going to your
HShield folder>
right click on anything>
properties>
Under Advanced for Attributes, there should be a Unblock button. If not, this is not the
problem and it probably is your windows firewall

I really appreciate your efforts, Sks.

I have done 1) to 4) of your suggestions.

- taken off all compatibility modes, run the 4 files in admin mode, disabled visual themes
and desktop composition, and added the four files to the list to be exempted from DEP (in
Win 7, the option reads "turn on DEP for all programmes except those I select" + the four
NF files listed).

= crashes as before my compatibility settings. Not a single battle that I could finish.

But hey, according to Lan_ex, it is because we are all hackers... What does he know about
computers???

how do I remove hackshield? It doesn't re-install with the game download (yes I
downloaded the whole new version). my nice clean computer with all legit software
won't load the game. It only works on an old computer with a chinese hacked
version of windows xp. Everything in that computer is hacked! go figure.

if you add NF to the DEP, you wont get crashes because you have to take off compatibility
mode. Just add to DEP and disable visual themes and desktop composition

Doesn't help unfortunately - I get all the crashes back I had before using compatibility mode.

I guess you can't rec in tech forum... how about a sticky (at least until the NF community
recovers from the latest debacle).

add this

11) Uninstallation:
Start>
Control panel>
Programs - Uninstall a program>
Press N>
Right click "NavyFIELD NorthAmerica>
Uninstall

That should solve all your problems.
