I am relativly new to Germany and am curently at a Geneusie almost to bisi, i know that german ships are good for sling shooting but i am unfamiliar with what it is much less how to do it.  If any one can give me the basics or direct me to a form that will give me the info it would be very helpfull, i already did a few quick searches that came up with nothing.

When your ship turns it dosnt turn from the back like it would in RL, instead it turns from the center. Press Z to select front guns and turn abit to your target and all of a sudden you have abit more range. That is the basic idea of it.

The problem with slinging is that everyone says it is what gives KM its range advantage, but everyone else can slingshot also (all their ships turn from the middle) so the slinging advnatage is same across the board, meaning KM range is still incredibly tiny and not worth the substancal difference of damage taking and damage inflicting ability of KM vs all other nations. On a score of 1-10, KM may get a 10 in range, everyone else is 8-9, meanwhile, everyone else is 6-10 in damage inflicting and/or taking while km is like 1 in both. Either boost KM shell damage, damage resistance or nerf everyone elses range.

That's got nothing to do with sling shooting. And it is also not correct. In fact AD and Bismarck can soak up damage pretty decently.

The issue with sling shot is, that it can put you in a vulnerable position. When I drive my SY and an H44 tries to sling shot me I turn in as well and he has no chance to escape anymore, because I'm faster and hit harder. I can't do that against a Monty quite as efficiently though, because the Monty is as fast as I am and deals muuuuuch more damage than the H44.

Imho the sling shot only works against people who don't realize it is a sling shot. The H44 turns in and they think it's going to rush, hence aim in the anticipated rush path and miss because the H44 turned back out again. Usually they also maneuver defensively which causes them to be well out of range when the sling shooting H44 pulls its back in again. Maybe that's the reason why so many think they are far outranged by H44 while in reality the range difference is tiny.

A few words from me:

Your rushing technice works only when the H44 is unguarded otherwise u run into range of even more ships. Even when its ungarded u have to hope it isnt a as good player since when i am in h44 an see stufrf like that a counterrush works jsut awesome against stuff like that. Furthermore H44 has mutch better reload then any other bb5. The lwoer degrees and hangtime also gets a tiny advantage over other bb6.

 

Regarding slingshotting can be done by any nation: yes but!

Yes u can slingshotwith any ship and in fact u should do with any ship. But what u gain by slingshotting as extra range depends on the ship. or better on gun arrangment. if u look at KM ship u see they are very long and the guns are far away from the centre, so when swinging they move more in and out. RM bb5 or L2 for example can slingshot but thier guns are very close to the centre so when swinging they gain mutch less extra range. In fact the only other BB6 that can sling as good as H44 is monty but that one has mutch less range too.

I´m a H44 usee too and sometimes use slingshoot. I didn´t not significative diferences in the results that normal shooting.

As CTL said it´s shows an apparently range advantage but quite often left me in a too expose position. Then i recieve too mush damage from other BB5 and the battle is almost end for mty H44.

I expect that modifications that are under test in test server make the H44 a more fear ship to face.

I aslo note that normally DB´s choose H39 and H44 BBs´as target, knowing the lack of capability to take damage. I saw a lot of this ships sunk or become crippled after the first DB attack that they recieve.

That´s my point of view.

Slingshotting will let you open for hitting only if done poorly. If you see that your enemy is rushing once you've started turning in, turn back instantly, aim and fire at the same time.
You will need to use your guns separately to slingshot properly.
Also as ships with brilliant AA, the H44 and H39 are both very capable at protecting themselves from enemy bombers - just shoot them down.
If you don't use AA then you're not using one strong point of the ship.

I'm not saying that the ship couldn't use some improvements, I'm a 120 H44 player myself, but on some behalfs there's more whining than there should be.

The best way to determine what the best/worst bb5/bb6 are. Which ships do you hate engaging and which do you not fear at all.

I fear: L2, Monty, BB6's, MN BB5
Neutral:  Super Yam, Commie and Italian BB5's
I don't fear: H44
